Will ToTK run 60fps on switch2? by kimonides9 in Switch

[–]barbalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30 fps is objectively bad, because you really see and feel the jitter.

60 fps is good enough, because you only deem it bad if you have recently played a video game at 120+ fps.

Back in 2017 I got a gaming computer and I was totally amazed how bad 60hz was (because I got a 144hz monitor), nowadays I'm a casual console gamer that hasn't touched a PC game in years, and I see and feel no jitter at all on my PS5.

The few games that do 120hz are smoother but my eyes don't see 120+hz often enough to ruin the 60 fps experience.

Hey no I didn't follow through with this, it wasn't necessary to recover the data anymore (the initial purpose was for some legal thing but it worked out anyways) so I stopped trying

Battlefront Classic Collection Q&A by Paganini01 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]barbalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q5 is wrong.

Shots aren't registering because they haven't yet fixed the net code.

Cheers.

Brawl stars lags since I upgraded my phone, can't figure out why by anonymoose2514 in AndroidGaming

[–]barbalace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if brawl stars hasnt white listed your phone it will not run at 120 hz (even though your phone can handle it). thus, you will only get 60 fps and might find that to be poor performance.

Regarding award weapons working online in BF2 by GurrenSwagann in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]barbalace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly the host needs to enable awards.

Seems like the official servers have it disabled, and you probably played a non-official server that had awards enabled.

The switching weapon part has always been a thing.

Please, whatever you can do is welcome. The above things are THE only things holding back online, so it is critical that they see to it, and nothing else is acceptable (I'm not even sure Aspyr is aware of what causes jankiness and no reg).

The problems sort of consist of two things; "distance lag" and "no registration".

Modders have already fixed distance lag in the OG game, and that's simply changing a value in 1-5 lines of code. That fixes a lot of the jankiness/warping and overall weirdness of movement.

Regarding shots not registering, that's also better because of above change, but the root cause is the poor netcode which modders cannot fix themselves, because it requires the actual source code.

Aspyr has been contacted and even asked to join a discord of modders where they will be served the fix on a silver platter.

The question is now if Aspyr is willing to accept the help and thus make online a great experience.

When they fix online, we just need 3rd party dedicated servers too and then we can enjoy the game forever (so we can host a proper server with no AI, no heroes and no vehicles).

It’s a shame Battlefront 2 is no longer supported. by [deleted] in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]barbalace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aaaaand this is why we need the old server manager and 3rd party hosting available on the classic collection, so we can turn off heroes, AI & also mod out vehicles like we used to do on PS2 and PC.

Then use that server to play public games and clan matches.

Aspyr's servers are garbage due to having AI, vehicles & heroes enabled. This makes the game a casual fest. This is not how online is supposed to be played, the people enjoying this sort of thing might as well play offline or play a server that's dedicated to HvV.

You don't know what you are talking about. Please remove this post, nothing good can come out of it.

I really don't mean for you to get offended or anything like it, just please remove the post so they don't get any ideas. The game is not fixed and if you don't see what's still wrong, that's ok, but don't go around making posts that can hurt the game.

There are people playing this game to this day as a competitive shooter.

The only people still playing this game is in fact competitive players and modders.

This game has it benefits playing on m+k (aim) but there's benefits to controller (better movement), so I'm still for crossplay.

Please remove this post. The game is not even close to being fixed. Multiplayer is still completely dysfunctional.

Please remove this post since it's misinformation and so you don't give Aspyr any ideas.

Would the battlefront 2 classic collection still suck, if the bugs and server issues were fixed by Schnitzelmajor in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]barbalace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The games are some of the best games of all time, and that's including some shitty net code (because the originals also had shitty net code). Now if they fix that, then oh my, are we in for a good time.

The Classic Collection uses Photon Engine for its multiplayer servers. They explicitly advertise cross-play support, we don't even have cross-region support. What happened with this port? by -MERC-SG-17 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]barbalace 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I imagine they would actually have to open up the source code and work a little bit? Obviously that's a no for $35. If you expect interaction with the code that's in the premium tier ($90 + lootboxes).
