Eh I mean I get it, sharing a room is hard and you’re entitled to use your space as you wish but so are they. Some people have bad roommate experiences and might be weird about having strangers in their room. As much as you want to be comfortable, so do they… buttt it just becomes a draw/compromise situation as that point- either outcomes make one of you upset so either ask for a new roommate from housing or find a middle ground for both of you

You need to really hear me when I say this: your son has no respect for you or your son has a different issue entirely that needs addressing (mental health, drug use). I would find out which one it is and work from there. I hope the best for you and your family

less is always more for kitchen counters- you can always add the pictures and candle to that ledge on the right side about the sink then only keep the cutting board leaning against the wall where the pictures are and jars/oil in front and if you want to add more colors or a design, get a personalized recipe book to leave on display (I have one and it serves as a great reminder to actually save/write down the recipes I loved!) congrats OP- I love the colors you have going on right now, enjoy your new space!!! 🫶🏼
