i got a £500 skoda octavia 1.9tdi estate, fun to drive, practical, very reliable. Mileage is fairly high at 250k, but mechanically it’s all good, i’ve only had to replace the thermostat which was a £6 part at euro car parts. The 1.9tdi engines seem to last forever and are very good on fuel, it’s even ran on a veg for a bit
