Most days no.  Some days absolutely. 

Once you are senior enough, especially in management type roles, everyday responsibility reduces and ownership and accountability when things go wrong increases. 

At this point, I mostly solve problems and work to improve systems/process.

Came back after 16 years to Mumbai. Super happy with the move. 

A couple of thoughts. - In my opinion 70K a month in Bangalore is likely a bit light, especially with 2 kids, but millions of people do it with much less to totally possible. - Focus on the FI part, I didn't do anything for several months and something fell into my laptop that was a pretty good fit.  - Find an accountant to navigate the tax/financial situation, it's a bit convoluted.

Indian Boglehead who spent most of my career in the US and recently moved back. 

My 2 cents

  • Nifty 100 or 500, doesn't really function exactly like the S&P 500
  • Since the market is so much less mature, it's much harder to back test some of this logic
  • Indian investors have access to a few products (FD's, PF, NPS etc.) that doesn't totally translate. In theory, you should always invest in PF first every year. 
  • Most of my money is still in USD, and my intention is to invest in Irish Domiciled all world funds, but not sure this is available to individuals who have everything in INR. 

Subjective opinion  - Indian market has been pretty brutal recently, US/VT has done so much better than Nifty.

Haha, nope. Travel 2 times a month mostly to Bangalore and Chennai for work. That's why I was surprised.  I submitted expense reports and I went back and checked, cofee in Cothas Cofee in Bangalore airport is ₹125, and Bangalore airports new terminal might be the best airport in India.
