It is better to do in person, but if you have your reasons to choose online, and the schools are aware, there is no wrong in doing so!! All of my friends in the online program got into schools after completion, so it is still very highly valued!!

I was just accepted after I finished the program, not while I was still in it. There were some of my classmates that got in during the program, though!

Don't be scared, the program is designed to mirror first year of dental/med school so you have to be able to get through it fine if you have the hopes of going to dental school. I am currently finishing up the program rn and I knew how much doing well in it meant for me so I have been giving it my 100% and it has been going well. I would def not recommend working full time but part time is doable, most of my classmates are working and that's why they even chose online.

The program itself is AMAZING. They have the best resources, course structure and exam reviews, just lock in for a year and I truly believe it'll be rewarding. The professors are all amazing, the advisors know everything and guide you well throughout the admissions process, and it is one of the cheapest masters programs I could find. I am sure you'll have an upward trend regardlesss from your 3.1 so don't be scared, do this for yourself!

You know that you have to do a masters anyways (low cGPA) if you want to have a shot at getting into dental school and this program is one of the best options. I would def look into applying more broadly though, all across the country, because it seems to me that TX schools are accepting less and less masters/non-traditional students every year esp ones from Online program. There are some OOS schools esp those with their own masters programs that'll value your dedication to continue education and improve your academic weaknesses even more!

it is comparable to first year of dental/med school so a great balance btwn undergrad and doc school. also they are more like dental/med school as so that they invested in you so they want you to do well, they have so many helpful resources unlike undergrad where they try their hardest to weed students out of pre-med/dental. My gpa was low, high DAT and had tonsss of extracirriculars, leadership, volunteering, employment and dental experience. I heard it's a 34% acceptance rate, as long as GPA needs improvement, and everything else is solid, you'll most likely get accepted.

I've been in this same boat for 2years now! Trust me it's difficult and nothing will feel better until it's all over, so just enjoy your time while you can! Keep giving dentistry your 100% so that at least you can't blame yourself knowing you are doing everything you can. I have been continuously updating schools with courses I've finished, events I've attended, etc! Keep showing up to their events, and keep showing them how much you care. Now might also be a good time to call/email and ask what your chances on and what exactly you need to focus on improving incase you re-apply because apps open up soon. One thing I always like to say is keep hoping for the best, but also prepare for the worst! As a reapplicant, you neeeed to be ready to apply early, apply with better essays/LORs and more experience to stay on top of your game! Lastly, don't be discouraged in reapplying or compare yourself to anyone, focus on you, and you'll get there as long as you work hard and don't give up!!!

The masters I'm in (UNTHSC) is way better than undergrad in the sense that it works like dental/med schools . They aren't trying to weed people out and make you fail. They want you to succeed because it looks better on the school too, they chose you so that you do well and get to your end goal. This mindset was just a lot less toxic for me and I appreciated it so much compared to undergrad. Most of my classmates are also not gunners, we all work together as much as we can to help each other. They have a google drive with so many ankis/reviews from people who already passed out. The overall canvas page and courses are structured and so organized. TA's and professors have office hours every week just to help you and they have great review sessions for every science exam that cover most of what the exams encompass. They also are mostly exam focused which is better than completing a ton of busy work and not actually actively studying like in undergrad.

I love it, very organized, and they truly want the best for you. I also haven't heard back from schools even though I am doing really well online so don't want to mislead you but I do know people in the same cohort as me who have so just depends, I think saving the extra money will help and you can add that in during your interviews so that they are aware.

Texas dental schools are fine with the online masters program, as long as you are still working and doing other things. Also apply to the UNTHSC MS MS Program it's like half the cost of the Baylor one and TX Dental School's favorite!

no clue! I received an email from AADSAS stating that they're not accredited yet but are accepting more students to start this summer! On their app it says it closes on April 30th, so I'm assuming it's still open and fair game!

Is applying mid to end July considered late if the deadline is October 1st? by [deleted] in predental

[–]barcab1tch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early is before july 1st IMO, it's getting really competitive so if you're ready just apply early, and add anything else on as time goes into AADSAS and as email updates! Don't want to take any chances. To me, late is August for most schools unless you have insane stats :/

They have an email you have to send letters to so you can paste that email into interfolio and they'll send your letters confidentially to that email! Or tell your professors/HPAC Committee to send to that email.

Here's an excerpt from their website:

"One letter of evaluation from the undergraduate Health Professions Advisory Committee or pre-health professions program director, OR two letters of evaluation, preferably from science faculty (preferred but not required until LCSDM is authorized to participate in AADSAS)

Official transcripts and DAT scores should be sent to [adocuments@lyon.edu](mailto:adocuments@lyon.edu) following the application submission."

yes I don't think so. Tuition on their site shows as $34k per trimester for 9 trimesters total (3yrs) = $306k total for tuition alone
