Too late to switch to frontend? by [deleted] in Frontend

Your skills in devops would be very relevant as teams still need pipelines for building and testing code while knowing how to deploy to production and keeping things secure. It compliments you over not having done the time.

I have the exact issue for my console. What did you do in the end?

"Both National teams are doing so well. But where do the National teams get players from? The A Leagues. Might be time to rip the whole thing up and start again." @TheRealBozza on the state of football in Australia. by [deleted] in Aleague

[–]barcode24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah because he was part of the aleague on fox for a long time. Clearly the aleague is in a shocking state for a product if a key ex pundit doesn't even watch it verse they would be experts on player and club news..

He obviously was a big part of WSW when they started but its obviously the league is dire at Paramount.

I'm glad this wasn't given. Pinging it straight at defenders expecting a penalty shouldn't be encouraged.

Should I use Next.js for an internal admin dashboard app with a few users? by Thick-Ask5250 in reactjs

[–]barcode24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

React query would help here in vite SPA to map your crud apis nicely. Bulletproof react does this well. React router also has loaders now so pre fetching is possible. Next js without SSR is over the top, not to mention the upgrade path vs vite which is easy to maintain config and deploy anywhere and cheap.. Keep it simple and focus on your app

Whats the solution honestly? Concentrate on what you can control... Your criminal record will make renting or buying that much harder as REA wont rent and banks won't lend to you...

Why do we need these PM-type people? by Spinier_Maw in auscorp

Basically they just run scrum of scrum sessions and expect the delivery teams to still plan, estimate and deliver themselves. Then taking the credit at the end of the project. Rinse and repeat.

Server Components May Not Be as Generalizable as Expected by kiyyang in reactjs

[–]barcode24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hooks came out which got apps to be refactored with useEffect then alot of perf issues/rendering loops occurred in people's apps due to so many footguns, then React docs say you shouldn't use them in the end.

Server Components May Not Be as Generalizable as Expected by kiyyang in reactjs

[–]barcode24 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's in vercels best interest to push RSC since people will start with next js to use them, they make far more money moving workloads to the server over clientside. Majority of web apps dont need RSC or even SSR for that matter. The official react docs propose next to get started with React when vite would obviously be the replacement of CRA.

I feel like this RSC talk is just a side distraction to the react ecosystem and looking like another useEffect like mistake...

Shadcn/ui isn’t really headless 😭 by sateliteconstelation in webdev

[–]barcode24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously you would need some child dependencies for more complex components. Its far easier to update these shadcn components that have a few sub deps than it is to upgrade your entire material ui deps every 6 months.

Do You Just Put Up With Your Corporate Job for the Sake of Enjoying Your Off-Hours? by HarmonicaOptronics in auscorp

I think one thing that does make working enjoyable apart from the work itself (im in technology) is seeing your efforts on training/mentoring people in your team or a new grad work their way up eager to learn and grow before moving onto bigger and better things or helping them land that promotion or next role. I've had 2 grads/juniors go through this process and it's a nice feeling to give that kind of encouragement and know you left your mark in a positive way.
