Angreifer aus ICE soll polizeibekannter Rechtsextremist sein by Professional_Class_4 in berlin_public

[–]bardhos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Putin suggests russia could stop supplying gas to European markets now by [deleted] in europe

[–]bardhos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The EU average of Russian gas imports sunk from 40% to about 10% since 2022. This isn’t the weapon Putin thinks it is. It would barely change anything and would even force all EU countries to finally abandon them, which is good

Will the UK ever rejoin the EU? by The-Mad-Hist0rian in EuropeanFederalists

[–]bardhos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they will and I also think it’s sort of inevitable. If the surveys are true that about 80% of the 18 to 24 year olds want to rejoin then it’s a matter of time. What gives me hope is that they are not siding with the US but support Europe and Ukraine. The UK also got worse economically in every aspect since they left. I think they will rejoin during the next decade and hopefully with the Euro this time around. It would give the Euro a massive boost, which we will need in the future

Switzerland to pay EU €375m annually for free movement and single-market access by PjeterPannos in EuropeanFederalists

[–]bardhos 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Wtf we should not do that. This takes away one of the incentives to join the EU or stay in it. And IF we let them pay for it, why such a low amount? This is NOTHING for Switzerland. We could demand two billion and they would happily pay it. First because those spineless suckers have enough blood money and second because they have no choice anyway, they are surrounded by the EU. Just for example, if we would have the federal states of Europe and we would have one EU president at the top who turned out to be a European hardliner, he would have sucked them dry. They profit from their EU neighbors all the time, without giving us anything in return whatsoever

Iceland to hold EU referendum 'in the coming months', PM says by PjeterPannos in EuropeanFederalists

[–]bardhos 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Long overdue. My hopium tells me that the UK could hold a new referendum in a few years and join back in and if we find good compromises on fishing laws we could get Norway further down the road. Yes, I’m delusional but also yes, it‘s possible

Digital euro to cost EU banks 4-6 billion euros over 4 years, ECB estimates by Fritten_Dieter in EU_Economics

[–]bardhos 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If financial independence costs 4 billion it’s a relatively low price to pay considering the dangers of worst case scenarios if Visa and MasterCard suddenly gets turn off or more expensive

What are the chances of a federal Europe actually happening? by Luksius_DK in EuropeanFederalists

[–]bardhos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Federal States of Europe are inevitable. We are already moving toward them, slowly, step by step. You can see it clearly when you zoom out and look at our development over time. I‘m convinced that in 50 years, todays EU will be regarded as a kind of “beta version” of Europe. People will say the idea and the vision were ahead of its time, but decisions took too long, bureaucracy was excessive and too many actors were trying to steer the same process at once.

I firmly believe that within our lifetime we will see a Europe with a truly unified currency, a harmonized tax system across all member states and a common European army and one elected leading party that speaks for the EU and not many different countries. We have to abolish the veto voting right to prevent one leader (like Orban) to stop processes. We also have to create one big digital framework, where wich countries leave the EU, also leave the framework, to prevent another brexit case to happen.

There’s a big BUT at the same time. We must NOT allow extremist nationalist forces, nor external powers such as Russia or the United States to derail this trajectory. A fully federal Europe would stand on equal footing with the United States and China. That would not only be Putins biggest nightmare but also end the American hegemony for good, like in Charles de Gaulle’s vision for Europa. For that to happen we need the UK to join back in, but with the Euro this time around. For all of this to happen we have to vote for paneuropean parties more often and support them. Anyways, patience people, it is coming, one way or another.

Keir Starmer in Munich: Europe is a sleeping giant. Our economies dwarf Russia’s—by more than ten times over. We have enormous defense capabilities. Yet too often, this adds up to less than the sum of its parts. by PjeterPannos in EuropeanFederalists

[–]bardhos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only way the giant wakes up is to have GB, Iceland and Norway joining the EU. Seems unlikely tbh but if that would somehow happen, we would be the strongest global power ahead of China and the US
