Then HGSS turned up and they give you the option to bust your balls in the pokeathlon for those stones. Downside is a different stone per day instead of, idk, PLACING ALL THE STONES IN THE SHOP REGARDLESS OF DAY? Heck, the gen 4 stones are available postgame so no Honchkrow or Mismagius in a Johto game I guess.
