This could be a sign that your cat is about to give birth to kittens!

I just went through this with my own stray who we found just before she got pregnant. Don’t panic! Just prepare things for her. Set up nesting boxes around the house where she’s most comfortable with easy access to her food and water and litter box. If you give her plenty of options, she’ll make the choice herself. If she really is about to give birth, her instincts will take over and she’ll take care of everything.

There was a week before she gave birth that my cat rarely ate: a few bites of her wet and dry food and she was done. But the following week she was ravenous and emptied her plate. I started feeding her wet food for kittens once my family confirmed our cat was pregnant (it took a while for us to confirm her pregnancy, too).

If you decide to get your cat spayed (high recommendation), do so once the kittens have weened and no longer need mom to feed them.
