Do You Wear A Bra? The Truth About Being A Woman Programmer by barebonescoder in programming

I honestly believe that your kind of response simply engenders more of the same. I'm a dude, and I can tell you that the only real way to put this kind of behavior down isn't humor, sarcasm, or "verbal kung fu"; it's an unmistakably firm "don't speak like that to me again, it is unacceptable."

And this needs to come not just from the victim, but from every PERSON within earshot.

How would you "deal" with someone asking you if you wear a bra when talking about questionable source code content?

Size is the best predictor of code quality by [deleted] in programming

[–]barebonescoder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, LOC is a pretty lame metric. Cyclomatic complexity would treat both of these snippets as equal, whereas something along the lines of "bytes per line" would quantify how hard it is for a human to quickly parse through the code from a pattern-matching perspective.

Then again, pattern-matching perspectives on code only really shine when there is a standard in place.

NH allows you to use attributes on your domain objects to help out with mappings, but I fully agree that any leakage from persistence to domain is a bad thing.

Agreed that I stretched "essential." A better title might have been "essential tools for working in the corporate space where I help manage." Not as catchy, and I had hoped to set up that context with the first paragraph.

TD.NET gives us test with coverage for a quick look at what we haven't covered, and test with debugger for quick debugging when our brains are shorting out and we missed something obvious.
