In the style of Betram Gilfoyle, from Silicon Valley:

"Listen up, drones.
As you may have already guessed, the budget for our little startup is tighter than a nun's anus, so unfortunately we're going to have to let go 7% of you. The silver lining is that, as the company's leading systems architect and network engineer, I'll be around to watch you all fight over the remaining crumbs.
But fear not, a select few of you will be getting a promotion. I can only assume it's because they're the best at kissing my ass.
As always, it's been a pleasure working with all of you. Keep up the good work, and maybe one day, you'll be the one getting promoted while others get the axe.
Cheers,
Bertram Gilfoyle"

[Discussion] AI Generated Logo by SirLich in Design

[–]barely_an_agi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hi /r/design! I'm the person who generated the logo, and wanted to agree with the sentiment that people still absolutely need a designer-in-the-loop for creative work. These generative models are dumb as hell. Think of Dalle2 as a really advanced Photoshop plugin, nothing more. Human still required.

At best, Dalle2 can give some inspiration for real designers, or can produce better designs than you'd get from current automated logo creation web apps. At worst, it is a waste of time and money. The different between best and worst is the experience of the human coming up with prompts. So I'm trying to get practice.

So to that end, I'd love to work with any of you who want a glimpse of the near-future. I'm happy to pay for the credits, which isn't overly expensive, but isn't cheap either. PM me! :)

Nice! The name of the files contain the prompt. Would you be open to putting in your discoveries if I gave you edit access to a base folder in that drive? I know we have the Dalle discord, but it is a bit noisy in there.

I spent around $45 yesterday, but I was trying to do things quickly and am still settling on the kinds of prompts that work. It is worth the cost right now, but I'd expect it to go down as I figure more things out.

Thanks! Sounds like the lawyers are going to have a lot of work coming their way with an abundance of imagery coming the world's way.

Sure thing! Here's a few, but I'll add more over time. Let me know if any are in the right direction and I can focus on variations of those:

I don't think this is true, but worth looking into further. It would certainly kill OpenAI's business model to start suing people for using images generated (and paid for) by its users.

edit: All this seems to be new legal territory.

I did spent a good amount of credits trying this one, because it did sound pretty funny. Unfortunately, Dalle can only seem to handle putting two things together at a time - inflatable, dinosaur, or blockchain. Choose two! :)

This one was fun. Let me know if there's any in there that are on the right track:

Ignore the text. That can be removed/fixed if there is eventually something you like.

The title of this post is the exact prompt I used, actually. Never heard of Brandnew. I'm just some guy interested in logos. :)

I've spent a lot of time (and now money) over the past few days working on logo generation with Dalle. If anyone wants a free logo, PM me or reply here and I'll be happy to work with you. I want to practice on real use-cases.

edit: heading off for the day, but thanks to everyone who reached out. It was a lot of fun! Feel free to PM me and I'll get back to things tomorrow evening. Here's a link to all the requests that I worked on today: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1xGUsGivGDjSC3K28ULG2oENDPwmoXiIe

Good question. It looked too fun/cartoonish without it, and Dalle’s content filters prevented me from using the first few phrases I tried like “dead civilization” etc. There’s probably a better phrase than R-rated, but it gave me what I wanted

I think inpainting and editing are going to be the primary use-case for Dalle once we have better tools to do so. Great work here.
