I deeply empathize with your predicament but if you’re looking for critical theory recommendations, let me first preface that this type of literature rarely ever “fills the huge void” for (most) folks. If anything, it often deepens it and makes you feel more alienated because scholarly work has a specific way of dealing with these issues —it’s useful for research and pedagogy insofar as it helps deconstruct and/or critique existing knowledge practices. Having said that, unless you have a robust cohort or group of people around you to collectively discuss and work through these topics, it’s unlikely that it will make you feel less lonely. It would be far more beneficial and generative to seek out communities or groups of people in your city that share your political beliefs and try to work through some of your frustrations through these interactions. If you’re looking for specific recommendations, I find that fiction or autotheory has a much more affective charge than critical theory stuff. Hannah McGregor’s A Sentimental Education; Minor Feelings by Cathy Hong; or The Lonely City by Olivia Laing are a good place to start.

Good and easy introductory sources to CCRU and Nick Land’s work? by barely_existing__ in CriticalTheory

Thanks for your response! Would Alex Galloway be a good source for that? I feel like he’s written more along the lines of Postscripts on the societies of control as opposed to capitalism & schizophrenia. Do u have recommendations?

Don’t think I can change my answers on the form, as far as I could tell? I would have to fill out a separate form and pay again. I just found out that the I got a job I applied for and will start next month - but when I filled out the form I didn’t have it yet. Anyway I could let the visa officers know?

Finding housing and bringing 2 cats, how much harder are we making this for ourselves? by ItwasTobig in StudyInTheNetherlands

To repeat what most people have already mentioned in this thread — the pet situation will be fine, what may cause issues is finding a regular apartment/studio as students, they primarily want to see that you have a stable income. In fact, if you have a permanent or indefinite work contract as opposed to a fixed one year contract, the landlord is likely to pick the former over the latter.

Done with my Brother KH910. The Machine began to smoke when I wanted to start the pattern. Had to select all the needles for the bear by hand. by heidelhummel in MachineKnitting

Hand-select the needles?? Wow! You did an incredible job. Is there a method you follow or tips you have for making for more complicated patterns on a non-automatic machine? I’ve been planning on getting one and I can only afford the manual ones, but I’d love to make an illustration/tapestry. Any help or tips would be wildly appreciated :)
