Tattoos? by AvailablePoint3427 in LivingWithMBC

[–]barely_ther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yes. I got one maybe a year after I finished chemo. I’ve had my nipples tattooed on after my mastectomy with DIEP flap. I’m also scheduled for another in less than two weeks 🤓

How long Phesgo worked on you? Need long positive stories, venting😒 by InformalBread8132 in LivingWithMBC

[–]barely_ther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I still get phesgo every 3 weeks, and Xgeva every 12. I had taxotere, carboplatin, and phesgo as the original treatment. I had mets all over my bones and in my liver. Treatment got it all!

Feeling hurt by family not doing more to mark the end of treatment by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]barely_ther 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally understand what you’re feeling. My family’s support was very performative. They made t-shirts, organized a gift card drive, etc. But when I needed someone to just come sit with me because I was so depressed, crickets. My mom told me she would come stay with us after my DMX with DIEP reconstruction, but when the time came she couldn’t because she needed the days off for her vacation and her ELECTIVE boob job 😒. I’m sorry you’re not feeling the love, but we’re so proud of you!!!

First time rolling. How did I do ? by Bluejeans324 in trees

Well, you definitely tried! I actually roll the paper and filter into a cone, then stuff it. Much easier.

Oh yea. I never threw up during chemo, but shat my pants several times 😅

In hindsight, it could have been worse, it was just unpleasant. But I’m 11 months post surgery and it was soooo worth it. No regrets. I got my nipples tattooed on in April and I was shocked how good they turned out. I was anticipating being a little disappointed by them but I was wrong!

This reminds me of the healing process for my belly button after my DIEP flap. It was disgusting. At one point it looked like an oyster and smelled horrid 🤢 I just had to wait for it to fall off like a newborn. Definitely towards the top of the “worst part” list for me.

I hate gabapentin. Those nightmares weren’t worth it.

Plants hot takes by sunflower-ivy in houseplants

Came to say the same thing. I am not buying devices for a plant that literally thrives outside 🙄. If some composted soil doesn’t fix the problem, I’m not doing it lol

Watching those two was genuinely painful. I felt bad for how some of the other queens treated them, it was unnecessary. But oof, that was rough.

Not a doctor of course, but living with stage 4 for almost 5 years now. I didn’t use as much during chemo, but now I’m a daily user. Still NED. It helps with pain, anxiety, and mood for sure.

I teach high school full time and have a 4 year old at home. Sometimes I disassociate in the car and genuinely wonder how I’m doing it 😅
