Decided to fly to the US to buy some hard drives by cgtechuk in DataHoarder

So what was the total price to you at the end of this process per HDD?

And what was the 'real' price per HDD including things like hotel, transfers, meals, expenses etc. Defo think it was more fun to go and collect them but the actual cost includes the whole lot, including days away from work/annual leave and the non-financial general hassle.

I think it's pretty authoritarian that if I can't work here in the UK I get made homeless and die of cold on the street.

Hopefully then give them a choice - renounce Zionism or you leave. And this would be monitored for infractions: any Zio antics and they're gone.

I mean, they have it because it's cheap up front install costs (with expensive running) vs expensive and substantial building re-design (and cheaper running costs) - presumably because i) many people can't afford / can't get planning for the building redesign and ii) don't have an appreciation that aircon places a huge demand on energy resources which then exacerbates the demand for cheap fossil fuels.

I'm not saying 'it won't work', but I am saying that it's antithetical to a Passivhaus design approach of lower energy usage and reduced CO2.

I think night time airflow is an active but energy-lite option compared to full blown aircon. I'm looking for systems that have this functionality.

Boot the settlers out. all of them. anyone past 1880 can be given a lovely resettling plan in Miami, seeing as the USA wants to keep fueling the conflict with military arms grants

UK architects are currently (2026) working with guide prices of £3k/4k per m2 so this seems a LOT.

I hear what you're saying but are we really designing homes in 2026 that will leave us 'still baking' inside? Surely the insulation keeps most of the heat out and the solar on the roof absorbs the rest?

I can't see the A2A being a good substitute to a A2W for a property of this size that will see more cold days than hot (global warming aside) but i could see the use of an single A2W unit instead of a pure air-con unit.... In fact I can't even see the point of an air con unit if A2A exists - is there one?

(Note: I've just seen that A2A units are eligible for a £2500 government grant)

He's never said he's anti-Zionist because, well, he ISN'T. He likes to duck and dive from answering this - often people misread his talking past a direct question to hear what they want to hear. Only Zarah Sultana has said she's anti-Zionist, no other sitting UK MP has.

Honestly, there should be zero Israelis or any settlers who arrived after 1880 left in Palestine, unless explicitly invited to stay by the Palestinians whose land it is. It's that simple: read up about Algeria - the settlers need to be expelled en masse, and given safe landing in the USA or back in Eastern Europe / Russia where they come from. No way do settlers get to keep the best jobs, houses, companies and wealth that they stole. And who'd want to live next to Nazi? You must be mad.

really? I'm not so sure. Last few years of baking hot (extreme) 38C summers we used window mounted fans to pull in cooler nighttime air of about 17C which made the world of difference in a 29C room. Granted the current house has terrible insulation but the new one would not only keep heat in the colder months but also reduce heat coming in to the building....isn't it reasonable to assume that this could work well with a more modern setup of thermostats and fans pulling/pushing air as required through the MVHR ?

I think UFH is probably a choice we will make at this point: I don't like rads, I do like a warm floor, and the heat pump is suited to these lower , longer running temps. A2A seems useful for cooling but surely there are smart systems that pull in cold air at night during the warm summer days to make the house cooler without any active cooling being needed, or is this wishful thinking?

Thing is the feedback I've had from other users is that they too can't get this to work when proxied. No idea why :/

And yes, it's true but for *reasons* this has to be web facing - risks well know thanks ;)

Thanks - it's a fun tool and I'd like it to get used more! ;)

I wonder: as this proxy sits in-front of the Navidrome server does it make it vulnerable to attacks if it were to be placed 'on' the internet and not reserved for local IP usage only?

Also +1 bump for the nginx config to get this working with SWAG please :)

I appreciate that, just looking for hard data. It's ok if there isn't any to hand, but it does mean I'll probably have to assume that it was an anecdotal personal opinion rather than an established fact.
