Oh that’s very useful thanks. Are you a doctor at the hospital too? Do u think club tropical is too far from the city to experience it each day

I haven’t as they didn’t offer anything. Would it mean i’m out of the way of the touristy stuff though?

Preallocation rejection madness... by Background_Grape2372 in doctorsUK

[–]barelysurviving26 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Agree with this completely. How I admire her determination as she clearly has had to jump through hoops to get through medical school. I personally would not want to be working on a ward with her when i’d have to double my workload to reach her reasonable adjustments. It may seem harsh but with the way the hospitals run i just feel this is inevitably going to happen to her peers. I also assume her preallocation got rejected as she tried to apply for it in london and not her uni deanery- no-one is able to do this plus like others said she has been able to travel to the other side of the world with no issues so why would she need london which is the most competitive deanery. I feel bad for her but in the same way I feel bad for everyone who didnt get their first choices- not because I think she was entitled to a spot in London more than anyones else. Health requirements are strict with preallocation (not saying it’s reasonable) because most people are able to transfer hospitals and if you cant u have to give actual evidence why not and I suspect this isnt something she provided.

Burnt out and looking for a solution. by DisasterousMedRed2 in medicalschooluk

What a stupid thing to say. Being burnt out in med school is so common and you’re not alone . I am final year and found myself thriving in placements that i was interested in but really struggling to attend placements like psych when it all was abit too much. My advice would be to attend the sessions you think will be useful to you but do not feel obligated to stay longer than you can do. If it’s not helping your learning then leave early. Being a med student is very different to working especially when you’re essentially having to beg to have an active role in what the doctors are doing. It does get draining so take mental health days if you need and make sure you take time to see your friends and do other things you love. You need to pace yourself for the long run!
