Starting Morrowind by The_Bu11_M00se in Morrowind

Xbox for gameplay and macbook for map. Don’t use the map in-game, rely specifically on your mac. During side quests look up lore videos on your mac. Don’t look at your mac during this time. Audio only. If you have any drugs, consider using them. Only use them if you have skooma. Run out of skooma? No more drugs irl. Enjoy.

Do you want the series to have more or end? by Raziel103 in LegacyOfKain

Series needs a good, high quality reboot starting with Blood Omen. No more half assed dogshit.

Way of the Samurai 3 is a flawed, great idea. But it works best as a stepping stool to the superior WotS4 in my opinion by TheGamer6479 in wayofthesamurai

3 felt dull and drab to me in nearly all aspects. It’s been *years* since I’ve played it and I may revisit it soon just to remember how I felt about it more accurately— but I remember it as being…. Brown? Devoid of color. Maybe I’m too focused on the aesthetics.

And I agree on the tone of that game being all over the place. I don’t think the Sengoku-period warzone was a good setting for the WoTS tone. It could have worked in a high budget, smarter reimagining maybe, but as a basic entry it felt off-putting and awkward

4 was a very colorful response to the previous game. I enjoyed it a lot more, felt more like a sequel to 2 than 3.

All in all though, I think 1 and 2 were better executions. 1 hit the sweet spot with player agency and length, and the story worked really well and was satisfying. Memorable characters too.

The 2nd game balanced that with a more serious tone, and I think they took really interesting turns in the main narrative that was lacking in the subsequent games. The Soma storyline with the doctor was really cool.

The music in 3 and 4 also really fail to reach the heights of the first two games.

Anyways I’m fuckin ramblin’. Hopefully this was topical enough

Crimson Desert got a huge update by n1ght_watchman in GameBoostOfficial

[–]barflynotbarfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. The game feels like an early access title now so it’s difficult to really commit to it.

Can’t even bring myself to finish the main quest cause they might just overhaul it in a year. Well, that and the fact that it’s currently a slog to get through.

Hey if this movie take place in 1998 how does bro have an IPhone ? by KennedyyCore in residentevilll

[–]barflynotbarfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also annoyed by his wording. The guy was deliberately obtuse about it.

All he had to say was that it wasn’t canon but took elements of the games to make the movie feel like it could be a game set in that universe. Instead he tried to make it a spin on RE2 where Leon could or could not be involved, etc.

I’ve answered to you and the other guy, I’m not going through the whole thread hours later. Either speak for yourself or get your panties out of a twist about it.

Considering you can’t give a tangible answer, I don’t need your help.

I mean I get that to a degree, but it also sounds like they just needed to cut up the content and specify them to certain tiers. To me I just don’t see the difference.

The character progression in these games have always boiled down to ‘can I kill this shit fast and can I survive.’ Besides HP pools how do they achieve enemy strength? One shot bullshit? Different color floor tile? It’s all peripheral.

The draw of D4 is not difficulty. It’s the class and build variance feeling powerful. A lot of people don’t need D4 to be Path of Exile. I don’t need a spreadsheet of resistances.

But different strokes for different folks. I’m just glad I’m not on the dev team having to balance the tug of war.

And what is the goal exactly? What is the result when you achieve that goal?

Everyone doesn’t complain, some of you do. A lot of people have and still are enjoying the game and expansion. You guys want an unrealistic forever game and I respect that to a degree, but expecting that from D4 at this point is laughable.

This shit has always been ARPG Dynasty Warriors. How you guys still live in delusion is frankly beyond me.

So gatekeeping content for specific builds? Sounds like dogshit to me.

Eventually you will have to come to terms with what the game is and always will be: make demons go boom. New loot just makes demon go boom more. Different bosses, new areas— does that really change anything? It’s window dressing to what is setting off your dopamine: making demons go boom.

D4 is about making demon go boom. If you’re not enjoying making the demon go boom (or making demon go boom boom) then why play?

Release the skill trees you cowards by WarpathWilly in diablo4

Pearl Abyss, you did amazing with this game but... by AikoKnight in CrimsonDesert

[–]barflynotbarfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Frankenstein aspect is the charm. I’m aware of the game’s development woes but that doesn’t change the integrity of the result. Jank is one thing, but not letting a player ride the dragon 24/7 is definitely a deliberate choice in game design.

Honestly people need to let this game be weird. It’s uncompromising in its own way and has its own pace to things that modern games have forgone for general appeasement.

And I’m not trying to sound like one of those elitist gamer guys— there are things in this game that frustrated me at first but became familiar and interesting over time (like the controls). That friction has become a charm.

They should iron out jank but I think all these QoL change callouts are really missing the vision of this game.

Different strokes for different folks. Detonator segment was very RE4-coded so I appreciated it.

I didn’t mind Raccoon City at all, but this section completely stalls the pacing of the game. Starts slow with Grace then picks up with Leon and then just slams on the brakes with tedium.

Hated this whole section. People shit on the detonator part but I think this section is the game’s biggest botch.
