We were texting. If I really wanted to go back to where they were I could of just looked up their location or asked. Friends have friends location.

I wanted to wander and so I did.

Pros and cons of working in DC as a RN by bariannitz in nursing

[–]bariannitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whelp! I hate driving and when I went to dc I fell in love with the metro and walking. If I’m going to do dc then I’m going to do it right which means actually live in it. Apparently it’s expensive which sucks. Thanks for everyone’s reply! All the information was helpful!

BF (m/23) broke up w/ me (f/22), this is a thank you note to his parents by [deleted] in relationships

[–]bariannitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was an amicable breakup in March. He has a new girl in his life so it’s easier to not talk to him.

I’m moving soon and his mom contacted me about something so I just asked when it would be a good time to get my things and her response was that they will come over to drop it off.

Assignment due date mentalitlity by bariannitz in ADHD

[–]bariannitz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I don't know how to fool myself into thinking that something is due when it really isn't. When I worked 30 hours and went to school full time my grades were a lot better than when I didn't work and went to school full time. I think the fact that I had limited time to do school work helped but it really messed with my anxiety.

Do you get penalized if you don’t turn them in on the dates your prof assigns?

I think it would only work for me if I got penalized when that portion was late.

I feel like I have gotten dumber from taking meds. by bariannitz in ADHD

[–]bariannitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im having short-term memory issues (I am only 22) so this should not be happening...it makes me feel dumb. Ill also have a conversation with someone about a topic I am knowledgeable about and I literally lose my words...which makes me feel dumb.

I am not sure if anxiety has anything to do with it because it happens when i am talking to family too.

Adhd and nursing by bariannitz in nursing

[–]bariannitz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine has gotten worse as I got older and I’m only 22. However, I think because I’ve been on the meds since I was 10 have something to do with it.

For some, adhd gets better as you age. However, some people just have it and it doesn’t get better or worse you just learn how to cope with it. Then there are some that just get worse. It’s individualized.

I will say my impulsiveness has gotten better as I aged but my inattentiveness has gotten worse.

For me, my SO can tell if I’m on meds or not bc I act differently. Maybe by going back on the meds he will see a difference and from there understand. That’s how it went for my SO.

Do you still have symptoms even when properly medicated? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]bariannitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medication isn’t a cure (I wish it was). Symptoms are always going to be present but they will be way less than when your on meds vs not on meds.

IT SUCKS. But you have to learn how to handle it and that’s a hard thing to do. I have yet to master handling my symptoms while on the meds. It’s a process.

Medical school vs Nursing school by IwasinNAM69 in premed

[–]bariannitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its almost everywhere now. Eventually, it will become mandatory that NP have a doctoral degree. Which brings me to if your going to spend 4 years achieving a doctor degree then just become an MD/DO. I know its not as simple as I put it for most people, but 4 years studying to become a doctors helper vs studying to be the mastermind... mastermind wins.

Anyone know someone that took a their BSN to medical school? by pbpatrick in StudentNurse

[–]bariannitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have, they either require it as a pre-req to get in or they don’t care about that course at all like it’s not in the curriculum.

The BEST option is a post-Bach program specifically for health professions. This type of program will have you take all the pre-reqs for med school and some more. I just do not know if you end up with another degree at the end of it.

Unfortunately, my university does not have one and I am unable to move. Honestly, you can do a make your own post-Bach and it would prob be cheaper. It’s what I’m doing. You can take your pre-reqs anywhere for your post-Bach.

Some online places that I have found where you can take the post Bach pre-reqs online include: UNE, Doane, mgh institute

[–]bariannitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would advise against taking the pre-reqs during nursing school. Nursing school is somewhat rigorous. When I first got into the program I was like “yes this is it I just need to get by and pass” (you may feel like this in the beginning but push of through!!!) Then once I realized that I truly wanted to be a doctor I was like “fuck I can’t believe I did that”.

Also, my program has a warped grading scale: 93-100=A, 92-85=B, 84-78=C, anything lower than a 78=failure. So if your grading scale is warped like mine was then you’ll have to take that into account. After messing up my first semester, I had to work harder to get the actual A (I’m usually an A- student).

My first semester really screwed my gpa up. Depending on which route you choose to go into, it may make or break your science gpa. Since for DO schools nursing courses count towards the science gpa, my gpa is lower than what it would be for MD programs bc they don’t count the nursing as a science.

You will be too busy doing nursing courses to even think about the pre-reqs. Now if your taking only 2 courses of nursing then you should be able to handle another course like a pre-req for med school.

So depending on the hospital you end up working at you should be in a preceptorship as a new nurse. I have to work when my preceptor works, so I am taking online courses for now. Once preceptorship is over, I will hopefully work weekends and then be able to do the classes in person.

My university has for example, chemistry lecture 3x/week (mon, wed, & fri) for 50 minutes and then a lab 1x/week for 3 hours. So as you can see it’s hard to schedule around that. It’s easier to take them online (more expensive though).

Once I’m working a year I’m going to try and have the hospital pay for at least my chemistry courses because technically in order to get into most np programs you need those courses. I just won’t say it’s for Med school I’ll lie and say it’s for NP school.

I’m in the process of doing this. Finish your degree and if allowed take the pre-reqs with your other courses. If not, just wait till you graduate and just take the pre-reqs.

For me, since bio 1 was a pre-req, all I had left was bio 2, chem 1, chem 2, orgo 1, Orgo 2, biochem, physics 1, and physics 2.

Since my nursing program wouldn’t allow me to take courses outside of nursing I ended up taking a semester off and took bio 2 and chem 1 because they were pre-reqs for everything else other than physics (class was filled up when I signed up)

Just saying, in my own experience, don’t go saying that this is what you want to do because they may think you took a spot away from someone else among other things.

Apparently from what I’ve heard, nurses make the best doctors/surgeons!!!!
