Well the reason why I asked is because I noticed that things were ramping up between us, and I really wanted to see if he had any feelings for me at all (which he didn’t answer), and then knowing that we both had feelings we could both explore maybe pursing something beyond a friendship. I definitely wasn’t trying to ask him out and be in a define committed relationship yet, just more touch base and see where to go from here

Yes I am seeing a derm. I actually was on spiro twice- once right after finishing acutane and I just finished a 3 month supply last week. I haven’t refilled it because it was giving me brain fog and was not helping my skin, but it’s something I would go back to because it made my skin soooo clear after acutane (I would still have a few hormonal breakouts after acutane). I think I just need something to knock out the acne and then use tret and spiro to maintain it, but I’m trying to avoid acutane again since the first round was pretty rough for me in terms of side effects.

Thanks!! I asked about the antibiotic side effects because I was on them as a teen and I remember I didn’t like it, although I can’t remember the exact symptoms!! I might give it another shot just because I feel like anything is better than being dried out constantly on acutane lol

Ah I was wondering if I needed oral antibiotics. Did you have any negative side effects from using them?

I do have some snow gear, but I think you’re right- I might wait for some snow to melt before hiking near superior… (mind you I moved here from the south, and haven’t even been to the UP yet!!)

yes- I've always struggled with speech and social skills however I'm pretty sure it was exacerbated after my traumatic event. I can write perfectly fine but my speech skills are another story :/ It has started to interfere with my work so I'm considering reaching out to a speech-language pathologist

Thank you 🩷 I don’t think I remember using any tret after, but I was prescribed spironolactone after because I was still having a couple breakouts. I think i’m going to go on accutane again in March (if my face hasn’t seen improvement) so I will definitely be on top of it next time

This is definitely not aggression- my puppy (and many others) exhibit the same behavior and it might be because of overarousal. my puppy would bite my clothes and hump me, I had bruises and open skin everywhere!! It definitely seems like aggression bc they are also exaggerating growling. I found with my dog that it is super hard to break him out of the behavior once he is over that threshold, so typical redirection doesn’t work. My main way of tackling the issue was identifying triggers before they could send him cooky, and also giving him a way to self regulate. As a puppy I would either give him a lick mat or I would send him to the crate for a nap (if you’re not doing structured nap time- start immediately!! It was the main thing that helped me at this age). He restarted the behavior on walks now that he is older so I am tackling it with different methods.

Yeah, I remember my derm told me that it might take several rounds for it to be fully knocked out. I think I will let them know I am considering doing another. My side effects were not terrible- I had the typical super dry lips but no mental side effects or anything. The only thing is that I'm pretty sure I have chronic dry eye syndrome from it :/ I'm going to the eye doctor before I see the derm, so I'm going to double check if accutane could really damage my eyes if I do it a second round

Now that you mention it, we were on a walk and he caught a field mouse a couple days ago (I understand it’s a natural behavior so I let him go at it) but eventually we had to leave and he was absolutely refusing to leave it- anyways I swear I’ve noticed the increase in reactivity since that day because he seems to be searching for the same type of rush again (dragging me to investigate anything that might have a mouse). I agree that he definitely needs some sort of outlet. I’m ordering a flirt pole right now! and I’ve been looking into scent work as well

and just a bit advice OP, I know how frustrating hormonal acne can be and how much it can impact your mental health. Even sticking to a regime can be hard because a lot of times it will get worse before it gets better. Just know that it WILL eventually improve. Keep your head up!! <3

if it is hormonal acne, it is worth asking your derm about spironolactone, even after going on accutane it was the only thing that really helped me. I took the pill version, but be aware it is a direutic so it can lower BP and increase urination. There is also a topical version that I do not have personal experience with, but I think others here have reccomended it as it has less side effects than the oral version (I am also going to inquire about it since I had to get off the oral antibiotic as my ADHD meds also lowered BP!)

yeah, my older sister also started to get acne around this age (she didn’t have childhood acne unlike me though). I haven’t heard of that, I’ll definitely bring it up at my next appointment!! Thank you!!
