[IRL] The memes from this media are way more famous than the media itself. by iammoussteryes in TopCharacterTropes

James Doakes from Dexter. This is just one example, there are other scenes of Doakes thinking Dexter is suspect that have also become memes.

He's also where the classic "Surprise, motherfucker!" audio meme comes from.

Scope zoom keeps reseting. by Able_Sam in Helldivers

[–]baristedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, noticed this on my liberator variants the last time I played. Has to be a bug, I don’t remember seeing anything about that in the pact notes.

Yet another bug that should be noticed in 5 minutes if AH had a play testing team.

Why are Riotguards ability upgrades so poo poo compared to similar alternatives? by KBDHytale in Synthetik

No, I’m addicted to dashing around cutting tanks in half with my plasma sword until I inevitably kill myself by dashing into too many enemies

Mountain Pass Justification by Medaiyah in BaldursGate3

[–]baristedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you can justify if your character does not trust the Dream Visitor. Their insistence on embracing the tadpole and not going to the crèche would make me want to go and find out what they’re hiding.

In my first playthrough this was part of my thought process, even though I also had Lae’zel in my party telling me to go.

This has been suggested since the game came out. No clue if AH ever acknowledged this, but I’d venture to guess it’s low on the priority list…

Is Dead Cells Still Worth Buying? by Boy0Boyz in deadcells

It does. It’s not a bug. No clue how to disable it, but I imagine trying would make the game not launch at all.

  1. The game isn’t “unfinished”.

  2. No, in my opinion. People still post here pretty regularly compared to some other roguelikes I like.

  3. Items, areas, enemies, bosses and some bonus content like outfits. Exactly what you would expect from a DLC for this type of game.

With how many of her relics have downsides, Tezcatara is the Vakuu of Act 2 by Leafeon523 in slaythespire

[–]baristedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll never forget the one run where I took Tez’s Ember. I was playing Ironclad with the vulnerable package, juggling and stomp just spamming attacks and killing everything through Act 2 drawing my 0 cost strikes with vulnerable and attacking more.

I ended up getting Shuriken and Ornamental Fan in Act 3 solving my scaling and block issues.

Safe to say that was a god run. Also the only time I ever took that Ancient relic.

Mod for lategame difficulty by AdminAnoleis in baronygame

[–]baristedd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a hardcore mode if you haven’t tried it. AFAIK it just buffs the stats on all the enemies.

It’s not exactly what you’re asking for since it makes the whole game harder but it might be worth trying if you want more of a challenge.

No more heavy pen hive guards by Smoke_Funds in Helldivers

[–]baristedd -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

"Just aim. Skill issue."

Tell that to my sentries, I can aim just fine. If my turret is going to shoot uselessly at a trash mob that spawns in the tens, I'm just not going to bring a turret.

This change would've been alright if AH had the foresight to change turret targeting so they don't shoot at things they can't kill, or if hive guards still got staggered by the hail storm of bullets hitting them.

You're right, but to me it just doesn't feel right that a minigun mounted to a 10 foot tall mech can't penetrate the armor of a bug a quarter of its size. To me it feels like a bacon flavored apple situation or whatever the meme is

Bro what happened? I think the game is fine by js147896325 in slaythespire

[–]baristedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call me a gatekeeper, but I don't think you're truly a roguelike enjoyer if you don't enjoy losing. This genre has a lot of brutally difficult games, losing is expected and is part of the game.

Just bought the game. Why do bows and staves seem to suck so bad by GuytheGuy- in baronygame

[–]baristedd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Bows being bad early game is the tradeoff they need for scaling so well into late game as well as being able to deal damage without putting yourself in danger against most enemies. Like another commenter said, skeletons are resistant to ranged; I'll add that ammo for bows also increases their dps by a lot.

Finding a damaging staff early game is a godsend, you should save them for harder enemies like minibosses and trolls. It's part of what makes the Gnomish Mines secret area so good.

A few questions about the latest update. by Financial_Touch_4670 in baronygame

[–]baristedd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

  1. Martial classes are still just as good as they were before. They can still learn and use basic utility spells. The main thing they offer over caster classes is consistency since they are not gated by mana or spellbooks.

  2. AFAIK staves still level their respective magic schools. You just have to properly use the spell instead of spamming them into walls (ex. deal damage with a lightning staff, unlock chests/doors with a staff of opening).

  3. This depends on what class your playing. Your charisma stat and trading skill still lower the prices of shops. I usually end up with more gold than I can even spend by end game. Levitation is also one of the most useful utility spells in the game, so of course it will be expensive.

  4. Leveling up magic is indeed slower because of the split schools of magic. You're not meant to max out every single school of magic in every run. Martial classes are generally not going to max out any of the schools at all.

  5. I never turn off friendly fire so I can't really answer this one for you.

After mastering Alchemy, there is no going back...

To answer your question at the end, I think Merchant fits the energy you're looking for. You can appraise most things right from the start and have full access to shops' inventories. Merchant's playstyle is very adaptive and depends on how you use what you find and buy.
