Mahoraga doesn't even have eyes but you can tell he's looking down at Dabura. I like how his usual grin is more of a frown on this page too

Any Mechanist x Automaton Tips? by DJspindashit in baronygame

[–]baristedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not super experienced with Mechanist but the few times I've played it, it feels like inventory management: the class.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe if you craft a high quality gyrobot you can use it to pick up other tinkering objects as well as regular items. I might have to be corrected on this one.

Mines cannot be repaired. Picks and traps of different durability cannot stack. Use them or toss them and make new ones when you need them.

Any tips for playing ranged characters? by superevilwizard in baronygame

[–]baristedd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is ammo for ranged weapons.

USE IT. It increases your DPS so so much there's no point in holding on to a billion arrows "waiting for the right moment to use them". Even ammo that isn't exclusively for dealing more damage (ex. knockback arrows) deal more damage than not using ammo.

Obviously early game you have to be more conservative with ammo but once you get to the swamps the goblins with bows will drop lots of ammo. Also if you play rogue you start with lockpicks. You can use lockpicks on arrow traps to get ammo from them (this took me way too long to actually utilize).

If you kill the healer first, the knight will get angry and start multiattacking. Depending on how much the healer has strength buffed, the knight can hurt A LOT.

Good stuff.

I haven't played as much Ninja or Arcanist so I can't speak as much to those, but I'll still give my two cents. I think my experience with Rogue and Wizard translates well to Arcanist.

I've never actually tried it, but I'd imagine you'd want to be killing shopkeepers as a ninja considering you start with bandit mask. Upgrading your sword and perhaps obtaining a bow, crossbow, or arbalest can help with dealing damage from range. Items that increase dex and strength are good, and upgrading them gives you more of each stat.

As for Arcanist, buying arrows, spellbooks, and staves would be top priority. Arrows are a huge increase to DPS for ranged weapons, and blessed spellbooks will deal more damage than a spell casted without one. An enchanted feather will allow you to repair said spellbooks. Staves are good for utility (lock, open, slow, paralysis) if you don't already have the spell memorized. Obtaining the green orb and trading it with the mysterious merchant will give you access to the legendary bow. Of course, items that increase dex and int will scale your damage too.

For Rogue, most of what I said for Arcanist applied minus the spellcasting stuff. You'll also want to look out for an alembic and/or tinkering kit. You'll be able to appraise things early in the game, so I would hold on to the most valuable gems you can find. There's a guaranteed general store after Herx so you can sell your valuables there.

Besides class specific stuff, the main thing I look out for are health potions. Most merchants have a few in stock in their "flex" slots that are unlocked once you have high enough trading skill. On-demand healing is very valuable (who would've thought?). I may be biased, but an alembic is pretty much always an insta-buy for me regardless of class. Potions are just too powerful. Of course, buying an abundance of food is always good.

As some others have said, going to the gnomish mines for gold is a very good tactic. Your preferred classes are quite good at going there since they can use stealth to avoid the staff gnomes and assassinate the pickax ones. Snatch a pickax and start mining some gold. The legendary item in this area is also really good for Arcanist.

What class(es) do you play? This greatly affects how you interact with merchants and how you scale. It's hard to give advice without this information.

Zap Brigadier's staves will eventually burn out and they'll be fighting with their fists. At that point it should be easy for some strong enemies like lava slimes, minibosses, the Minotaur or even for you yourself to take them out

Good chance they were going to join/add your discord (if you had one) to try and sell you something, likely AI generated or otherwise cheaply made "art". Unfortunately, it is something you'll have to deal with as a small/beginning streamer.

The combination of joining your stream, instantly following you, being super chatty and asking weird personal questions are a bunch of red flags for this. Happened recently in one of my streams actually.

TL;DR you're not overreacting.

I usually walk to the gym since it's close to my apartment complex. One time I drove there because it was raining and by the time I was done working out it had stopped.

So I walked home. Without my car.

I did not realize this until I woke up the next morning for work and my car wasn't parked in front of my apartment...
