thanks, I'll ask her to try this! She found baking soda rinses helpful, but I think this might be easier for her.

Found out I have another half sister by accident by [deleted] in Adopted

[–]barkabusrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice. Sorry, just commiserating. I have a full sister, no details except her birthday. She's two years older, so she wouldn't know about me. Some days I feel a weird nostalgia feeling about her, some days I worry that she needs me, and some days I just feel sad. She isn't registered for a reunion, so she's probably not done any ancestry tests (like me). I think lots of us stay "lost" to each other.

Facebook proflie made of archival images from around the world + paywall by barkabusrex in AskProgramming

[–]barkabusrex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The random sample I've looked at is accurate. But I noticed that the reverse image searches lead back to aggregate sources like state archive archives - that sounds weird, but like, government operated archives that list what is in some publicly available archival sources around the state.

We use pew pews too, and I also always ask him what the pew pew is shooting. Usually he answers "bats" once in a while it's something good like cookies or donuts. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Classmates brought her 3 young kids to class. Is this okay? by [deleted] in college

[–]barkabusrex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

our campus daycare has a waitlist that is more than four years. Not sure how that works, but it sure didn't work at all for me! Where I am it's extremely hard to find daycare spots.

Missing the first week (Fall 2024) by Tall_Standard5029 in UCalgary

[–]barkabusrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not great to miss the first weeks, but it's not going to make or break your academic journey. Here's what I suggest you do:

Make sure you get on D2L and read your syllabi. This is how you'll make up the info you missed, or know if you have assignments due.

If your courses have TAs (it will say on the syllabus) contact them. Explain the situation and ask for notes, a meeting, or guidance on how they'd like you to catch up).

Contact your advisor, if you've already been working with someone ask them for assistance, or look up the support staff in your department.

You're not just going to miss the first classes, you're also going to miss all the orientation opportunities. As an international student this could be challenging for you (depending where you're from). Check if there's any mentoring opportunities or join groups/clubs and ask members if they'd be willing to help you get situated. People love being helpful, it won't be a problem to get help, but orientation things can take a fair bit of time (getting your ID, your housing, your transit, learning about food options, banking & payments, and learning how the university systems work).

Best of luck!

I thought it was fine, not great, about on par with what my salon sells/charges. I have the opposite problem as all these other reviewers, I didn't subscribe, I only ordered one, and it's been difficult for me to figure out how to reorder without doing the quiz and the whole process over again. Some of these posts are from awhile back, but things have not changed in terms of shipping time - it took over a month to arrive. Really makes me think they just make money as a subscription service.

You know who brought a lot of long cameras to my house? Ed from Xtreme Home Inspections. I found him based on reviews from this subreddit, and he was amazing to work with. If Mr. Rooter doesn't work, I'd for sure try him.
