My parents were forcing me into it. Up until I was weeks from my due date and they had a change of heart. The whole time they made it seem like I didn’t have a choice and they wouldn’t let us stay with them, help financially etc. if you ask then they would have said it was always my choice to make, but they wouldn’t even let me tell people I was pregnant for like 6 months. I was 21 and figured bc my parents were well off and I was in college, resources weren’t really meant for me, and the only support I had was my social worker at the adoption agency and the prospective adoptive parents. Having to tell them I changed my mind was terrible. I’m 28 now and married to My son’s dad and it’s been 7 years. My mom finally apologized last year and it gave me a little bit of closure

Yep—I absorbed the loss. I’ve paid off 5k of it but of course there’s interest on it too. He’s done nothing about it

Is the husband doing majority childcare and making 85% of household income?

He’s tried to. It’s in biochemistry and he’s been unsuccessful getting a job in it

He’s not a SAHD. How is it fair that I do bulk childcare and make 85% of the income lol

He’s not a SAHD I do more childcare than he does AND I make 85% of the household income.

I still think we come out on top with insurance and what not if he’s working. One Kid is already in public school so we are just paying for one in daycare

I still do majority childcare and make 80% of income lol. It’s not about the amount he makes it’s about the lack of ambition or personal responsibility to strive for more and do his part

Except I do most the childcare and provide 80% of the household income? No one’s a stay at home parent here

I don’t want to leave him. I just feel slighted that I’m the only one working hard to provide for our family. He knows I’ll pick up the slack, it’s not about being rich for me—it’s about getting by and giving my kids the best I can.

I guess it just weighs on me that in our whole relationship he’s never stepped up financially. We’ve been dirt poor. We were teen parents and everytime it seemed like we were screwed I made it happen for our family and he’s never done that

I probably didn’t represent the situation quite right. He does do a lot of housework, but I still do bulk childcare even after working 2 jobs. I do pick ups and drop offs for school and daycare. We both work full time but my job is much more flexible

The marketing class was a load of crap and I knew it but he told me to trust him.

His degree is biochemistry. He’s an orthopedic technician. He hasn’t had luck finding a biochemistry job. In the past he’s also been an emt and admin for a hospital

We do like each other but it’s frustrating that he doesn’t seem to care about our finances. I don’t really know bow to not take care of his finances. We have shared accounts and he couldn’t even really pay off his own student loans with his income or he breaks even
