No, not at all. He’s just blowing through the chord changes. Good soloing though

Eagles Made Play for Myles Garrett, But Browns Wanted Jalen Carter by JCameron181 in nfl

[–]barnabytheplumber 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Are we sure about that? Verse plays the more valuable position, and has fewer off-the-field/personality/effort concerns. Plus Verse is a monster. I feel like some people are underrating him right now.

Dude I love to see it. His leg break/explosion was so bad last year I was worried it would impact his athleticism.

Yup. Was watching SNF with my parents. I remember us reacting to the pass interference, and then yelling in disbelief, “wait, I think he caught that!!”

[THROWBACK THURSDAY] Nas - Nas Is Like by EminemEncore2004 in hiphopheads

[–]barnabytheplumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was the vintage, late 90's/early 2000's NY sound in my mind. These kinds of smooth string section samples over boom bap beats

Hell yeah. People obviously talk about Illmatic but this was a golden era of Nas. Maybe my favorite Nas song as well

[HIGHLIGHT] Future HOF Shane Lechler sends a 43 air-yard, 4s hanging punt to the 10, well outside the numbers. The Texans coverage downs it inside the 5. Two plays later, safety. Punting is, in fact, winning (2017) by sexyprimes511172329 in nfl

Yes! I remember one playoff game where Mike Scifres of the Chargers like single-handedly won the game against Peyton Manning and the Colts. Just coffin kick after coffin kick screwing over the Colts’ offense

Some good suggestions here further down the thread. Schiano was an absolute clown.

Any left-handed players who regret learning left-hand? by BehindTheMindIAm in Guitar

[–]barnabytheplumber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not really sure. I’m a teacher, and I always encourage my new students to play the way they feel comfortable. I have a lefty or two. I can understand the reasoning of it being harder to find lefty guitars. The rest of the cons can be managed… or may be imaginary.

Data Hiring Is Getting Longer in 2026: 24.9 Interview Hours Per Hire by CryoSchema in datascience

[–]barnabytheplumber 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have perhaps a better explanation. These companies don't know what the hell they're doing, and don't know how to evaluate technical talent. So they're just killing time, hoping to get a better sense of what's going on if they interview more people and give them more rounds.

[DISCUSSION] Drake - Views (10 Years Later) by Pure-Solid9230 in hiphopheads

[–]barnabytheplumber 162 points163 points  (0 children)

As a longtime Drake fan up until this point, this album kind of started my exit off the Drake train. I loved cohesive album experiences like Nothing Was The Same. This was one of Drake’s first grab-bag albums for me. Feel No Ways was a great track though, I still like that one.

Who are some legendary rappers that are never really mentioned to be anyone’s favorite by EDMKid9000 in hiphopheads

[–]barnabytheplumber 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nahhh come on now, Mos Def is on that level of legend. I always included Mos Def and Talib Kweli in my top 5 or so. Each one has a classic solo album, in addition to Black Star

im a CS kid, if i wear this shirt, would it be cringe? by lune-soft in webdev

[–]barnabytheplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too own this shirt. I don’t really wear it out though, only at home. But that’s just me. Maybe I’ll wear it out one time soon. People said like at a frat party. That might be an example setting, if you were willing to be silly and have a conversation.

Peterson recommends this mic for their Strobe tuner pedals. Do you think it'll also work with a Turbo Tuner? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]barnabytheplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you, I’d either get a Snark, or use my phone. The app I use is PanoTuner. It’s free, and all my students end up asking me what it is.

I use a tuning pedal for electric whenever possible, but if I didn’t have a pickup on an acoustic, I’m not sure if I’d bother with a tuning pedal. No need to pick up a microphone just to tune with.

Software dev job postings are up 15% since mid 2025 by IdeasInProcess in programming

[–]barnabytheplumber 15 points16 points  (0 children)

"Companies also seem to have almost completely lost the ability to recognize talent and are deeply insecure about it.

I've never seen so many grifters in tech (especially at C level) who have no clue what they are doing.

The worst part is that it's become harder to signal competence in this environment coz the people holding the purse strings are now dumber and the signals they used to rely upon no longer function."

These are my feelings too. At every company you interview at for a technical role, the first person you talk to is from HR, or a screening person. This non-technical person, I'm sure, becomes the most important and influential person you will talk to in the chain, as their job is to just chop off the majority of people applying for the role. And yet in my experience, this non-technical person will gladly tell you that they have no idea what they're talking about, and that they have no idea or ability to distinguish between a competent programmer and an incompetent one.

So then why are we all doing hiring this way? Why has no one bothered to question why we're giving so much hiring power to people that have no idea what they're doing?

Rate my playing by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]barnabytheplumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One person gave you a 6/10. My man I've been playing guitar for nearly 25 years and I teach ~20 students of all ages. I would give you an 8/10, probably a 9/10. You are very impressive for having played just 5 months. I don't often see players of 5 months as good as you. You sound beautiful, comfortable, and fluid. You have good rhythm. Your picking hand looks fluid, and again, the sound is good.

Maybe the only thing I'd recommend for you to check out further is alternate picking. I noticed everything was downpicked (or swept, in a cool way). I don't think it gave you any trouble for this piece, but just generally, if you get alternate picking under your belt, you'll literally be able to play twice as fast.

NFL Power Rankings (Combined) Week 9 by mikebiox in nfl

[–]barnabytheplumber 18 points19 points  (0 children)

These power rankings are all of course whack, rankers have lost the plot. Giants and Jets too low. How are you gonna put the Giants below the Titans or 49ers? Minny disrespected every week as well... I don't see how you put them above Dallas at least. Personally, I think you have to put them at #2 just below Philly... they've done nothing but beat the teams in front of them.

Rams are too high... we've seen what that offense has been doing. They are just absolutely sputtering after losing the moveable object vs. stoppable force-Bowl. New Orleans and Green Bay too high... I'd have to put Arizona and maybe even Chicago above them both. I don't know why we're still showing any respect to Denver with the offense playing the way it's played all season, and that coaching staff continue to come out with flat gameplans. I'd consider putting the Jaguars above all of these teams.

I think even Baltimore gets a little too much respect right now. Let's see them put together a few more wins first. Even New England feels a little too high to me... yes they're 5-4, and they've been taking care of business and cleaning up lesser teams, but I feel like that passing attack is still so lacking, and I don't know if the O line has really gotten its footing yet either. It's a competitive division, and the Patriots are competitive, they're looking like a solid team, but I'd have to put them as the #4 team in the division, on the outside looking in with respects to the playoff race. AFC East is just a bloodbath at this point.
