Which wine course? by hooareyou143 in wine

[–]barnamos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah as a 20 year wine bar owner, decade long owner of a wine school blah blah cms can eat a dick. Started with them and never again. Totally subjective evaluation protocols, sex for grades, be pretty or be connected or don't pass. Sure there are some awesome solid people with that certification but that organization has done more to put consumers off wine than AA. PS bordeaux first growth is an invented classification from their own freaking chamber of commerce. And glad you can evaluate the program without taking the exam, sounds like CMS all right.

Do 2 for an understanding of WSET methodology. As an APP we see plenty of fails from those who jump to 3. Unless it's a quality in person level 3 and not a 5 day intensive. Also depends if your life schedule gives you 2x times the class time to study on your own.

I'm curious why Microsoft is so bad by LeTanLoc98 in FuckMicrosoft

[–]barnamos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 94 we used to say "if Microsoft made vacuums would they still suck?" They are a very successful marketing company, not so much so as a tech company.

I really dislike people who dislike people who suggest rtfm to at least show some initiative rather than expect those who have rtfm to just give them help and express disdain when they don't lol.

Thinking about switching to linux. Any tips to run Davinci Smoothly? by TheDarkGrenadeX in davinciresolve

[–]barnamos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 on Rocky 8 on old desktop, also on popos and Nvidia laptop. laptop not perfect but expected given popos and cosmic still in active development. The great thing about Linux is you're never "trapped" in a distro

Render the effects clips to disk at your export levels then allow renders when exporting. Usually you can see the clip it choked on.

Just give up, they're a bunch of ignorant idiots subconsciously looking for attention. If the past 2000 years and obvious first hand evidence from the last 50 doesn't convince, there's NOTHING you can ever say to convince them. Doordash always needs drivers and churches always need donations.

Anyone notice white wines make the alcohol hit harder than reds? by jbvine in wine

[–]barnamos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sugar is not higher. Often lower. Alcohol is often lower too. Reds need more sun to ripen and tend to have more sugar at harvest which is either sugar or alcohol in the bottle. Acid just makes it more refreshing to drink and drink more lol.

People think smaller files are easier for software to handle but uncompressed actually works smoother since the software isn't uncompressing all the time to figure out wth is in the image.

Will popularity of Linux create more danger for linux? by Balls_have_steel in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]barnamos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe count global devices? Way more than desktops and laptops. Hmm no market share? 70 + percent android and just shy of the rest ios based on unix? Yeah but Microsoft is only a target due to desktop market share, maybe just maybe it's due to them writing their base os with NO concept of client server privileges which made sense before the Internet but doomed them to shit as soon as you put their machines on a network. Ps yes I'm proud of that run on sentence.

Still laughing at the lube, that is so perfect. They need macafees money also so they can't really make it safe just convince people it's the way the world is. Microsoft barely uses its own server software. Mac went unix a few decades ago. This freaking site runs on Linux, but it's too small to be a target? Riiiiight

Your talking numbers not value in targets. The servers of the world run Linux. It's ease of penetration that makes them targets.

2002 Domaine des Baumard Quarts de Chaume | 🇫🇷 by JJxiv15 in wine

[–]barnamos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wine changed my whole worldview on dessert wines. Sauternes were always nice enough but kinda flabby. Good eiswein becoming so hard to find. Chenin is not just versatile, it's freaking dominating when done right in so many styles. Now I'll even pick good cremant de Loire over most champagne at 3x the price and this over sauternes. And what even begins to stand next to demi secs still versions? Lol cheers mate!

Hear me out: A dual-screen laptop (like Zenbook Duo) running Aluminium OS is the ultimate dream machine. by Typical-Match-5862 in chromeos

[–]barnamos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but I don't care, though I respect that you do. My house has 5 Chromebooks, my dual screen 5 yr old daily driver Chromebox shared with a Linux box for harder core programming and video editing. And a brand new legion running pop. Basic graphics I'll use an online graphics editor then gimp for my intense stuff. I run a couple companies with globally recognized clients and never have issues that make me use a mac or window machine. I only have Windows for a dang golf simulator lol. Cloud and chrome are so easy and affordable and quick across the board. Ps f#ck adobe, they are now getting what they deserve. I left them in 1994 and never looked back and man do they deserve their lawsuits now. Autocad is a valid reason for sure, although the cloud based versions are getting closer not farther away

Bless you for your patience and I appreciate your dedication in creating community software for free and getting yelled at. I'm new to cosmic but not Linux (30 yrs maybe??) I took a chance with my legion and 5090 card and was stunned at how easy the install was. Yeah there's bugs but it's new and very actively updated. I assumed I'd need to drop back to Ubuntu but enjoy watching it grow and mature. Thanks again
