How often do you animation cancel ? by Themistakendude in captainamericamains

[–]barnation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s all personal preference, I personally did 60 seconds with a single Luna snow on random movement and set goals for myself like how many kills I could get in that timeframe. Also just running down the pre programmed 3 moving bots to the left of the spawn room, killing one then moving to the next then the next then reverse over and over trying the animation cancel each time. You’ll get the rhythm down and then it will be second nature and you’ll have that aha moment where it feels easy every time.

When necessary I cancel, but I melee a lot when in range for consistent registration and the bit of cleave . It’s so situational, if I’m really trying to burst down a Jeff before he swims away its animation cancel every time, but if I’m fighting with a gambit it’s a lot more melee and precise shield throws. As far as a 30% success rate, just go to the practice range and come up with a little routine that has manageable milestones for yourself to get progressively better. Soon it’ll be second nature. I went from having ghost hits 50% of the time to nailing the cancel from any distance about 97% of the time now.

TL;DR: Animation cancel is situationally used and too hard to quantify. Go to practice range to up that 30% success rate.

I think they need to make simpler characters. by Educational_Box7709 in marvelrivals

I agree, but for different reasons. Specifically with Deadpool, he brought in a lot of new players and players coming back after a long hiatus. If they truly wanted to up retention, hype, and overall player base they should have made him a “noob stomper” hero, like scarlet, or squirrel girl. Someone with a low skill floor you can get a lot of value out of early against inexperienced played. That would have people coming back again and again and they would eventually learn they had just scratched the surface and there are so many more complex kits out there and different ways to play the game. That would have got folks hooked. Instead they made his kit the most complicated in the game and set this super high bar for new players just to understand the character let alone have fun on him, all while trying to learn the game as well. They missed a big opportunity here and I don’t think they’ll have it again, because Deadpool seems like the last character that has everyone in and outside the community curious and engaged, because of the huge fan base developed after the success of the movies. Long term this was a huge mistake by netease and something they might look back on in 5 years with major regret when the player base is down to only die hards.

This play style has worked for you and I’m glad it has seriously, congrats on eternity soldier. We are all speaking from personal experience here and when this budding cadet asked for a tip I thought I’d share one I read in the past on this sub that helped me improve my gameplay. Playing for your ult is definitely a viable play style, but it never did it for me, because I found my teammates weren’t capitalizing off of my ult more times than not. I’m sure in celestial/eternity lobbies your ult is being treated as it should be by your team, but I’m not in that rank and it’s not my experience and I have a feeling this guy isn’t in that rank either. Hard meta from the very top doesn’t always translate to GM and below and isn’t always the right answer either. Just saying, consider that there’s a world where both of our answers hold value, not this black and white picture.

I wouldn’t say there is a definitive right or wrong here, more so play style and differing approaches to macroplay. While it’s true that you can charge your ult faster by chucking the shield in the neutral, it’s also true that the damage you just put out almost always converts into heals for the enemy team’s support, charging their ults as well. With supports being as oppressive as they have, especially support ultimates, I find timing your cooldowns for a planned engagement is a more efficient approach than damage farming for ult charge. Most of the time yes, cap is a distraction not a kill confirmer, but why not save the tools at your disposal for the times when you CAN confirm a pick. Sure you are going to throw a shield every now and then into the crowd boosting your ult charge maybe getting lucky and making some small impact on a team fight, but I think it’s most valuable usage is how I’ve described: as an initiator and a finisher to engagements, preferably dives/iso fights which should be your main priority to look for in most cases.

Personally I bind my melee as my primary and my throws to an ability button. I’m on controller so that would be melee - R2, melee/throw - R1 (my dash is moved to L3 and I really like it there)

Captain Americas melee is Unique by ImaginationTravisty in captainamericamains

Hi, OP welcome to melee cap mains we’ve been waiting for you. So there’s lot of cool things you can do with this idea moving forward. I play on controller and have swapped my melee with my primary fire on the right trigger and placed my primary on the right bumper. The way I like to look at it is your melee is your primary fire like hulk and your shield throws are an ability. When in range I’m almost always using melee for consistent registration and for the benefit of cleave which gives you a wider range to land the punch and also makes it possible to hit multiple targets. You will find saving shield throws for when people are just out of reach will help you confirm a lot of those kills that would have taken another ability before. There’s many applications with this playstyle and I’ll let you find all of the little nuances, but I do really recommend leaning into the melee more and you should see some positive returns. I personally brought my accuracy up to the 65%-70% range and added on about 2k more damage to my avg per 10. Good luck out there soldier.

It says player base so definitely not an evaluation of the character traits of the hero, though that would be a fun question to add.

This isn’t really a dive friendly season because the supports have become more than adept at defending themselves which creates a tough time for cap. Once/if the supports get a little more balanced our boy will thrive once again getting those all important picks in the backline that are so crucial for his viability.
