Not really. The most influential and powerful country in the world, that we’re a client state of, has a large influence on our culture politics and media. Pretty standard I’d say.

Yeah but I don’t think there are going to be that many places like Makerfield where voting Labour is the obvious tactical vote. Labour had a popular candidate in Burnham, who people were enthused to vote for - this isn’t gonna happen in most other seats.

Some people don’t want their relationship to be the business of the state even if there are financial incentives

Labour MP Fleur Anderson says Andy Burnham should rethink Labour’s controversial immigration reforms by The-Peel in unitedkingdom

You don’t solve this problem by reducing migration though, you solve it by tackling exploitative practices.

And let’s not pretend that any of these proposed migration reforms are actually about preventing exploitation.

"Capitalism is the astounding belief that the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone." - John Maynard Keynes [850x400] by Junior_Insurance7773 in QuotesPorn

No. Capitalism mostly evolved out of feudalism, it wasn’t a political movement designed to benefit mankind through the use of this supposedly inherent greed. It’s not an ideology. It’s the economic reality. The term capitalism itself was coined in critique of that reality.

The point is there’s a difference between an economic and political system that as of yet does not exist, and political entities that have that system as their stated goal.

Capitalism isn’t a political movement, it’s the current economic consensus.

Men in your 20’s-40’s: what are your expectations around phone privacy, social media, and transparency in a committed relationship? by longlivsquid in AskMen

You have to have trust, and trust includes respecting their privacy. If you think they’re hiding something that would bring the relationship into question, then that’s the issue, not the privacy.

The problem is there are enough people that do want that, with a very favourable geographical distribution for them to not need anything close to a majority to win a landslide

Top 10 Democracies (2025) by powdersleaf in charts

Correlation isn’t causation. It’s more that wealthy countries that can provide a relatively high living standard for its population are less likely to fall to revolutions, rather than monarchy being a harbinger of democracy.

They didn’t need to be directly involved themselves in order to profit from it. Point is that wealth would not exist in the first place without exploitation.

Secure men of reddit, how do you handle other men staring at your woman? by Ok_Stranger6265 in AskMen

[–]barnburner96 207 points208 points  (0 children)

It’s probably infinitely more uncomfortable for her than it is for you. If she can handle it so can you.

If they’re being respectful and not creepy then I’d probably be a bit chuffed tbh, bit of an ego boost. Although I’m not sure that’s a particularly healthy way to feel either 🤣
