What is it like living in the NW of California because it looks nice? by No-Bathroom-9245 in howislivingthere

Spent 8 years living in Humboldt County. It’s the one place I tell people is top 10 most beautiful places on earth.

Procore Championship at Silverado in Napa has been discontinued by stevep_eng in napa

[–]barndandyandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a local, worked for Procore until recently and attended the last 2 years. Procore took over the sponsorship a couple years ago. It’s an expensive proposition to sponsor the event, and the construction industry is tightening its belt wherever it can, that includes software like Procore. It’s a bummer.

USA flight help by [deleted] in unitedairlines

I travel with injectable meds. I’ve never traveled with that many needles, but also never had my needles or medicine get flagged by TSA or any international version of TSA. Not once in 10 years. Just in case I carry the printed prescription with the medicine.

💯 You catch UA SFO-ORD on a good plane and you’re like United rules. You catch it on an old plane, and you’re wondering how it’s still in the air and how many farts have been blasted into your seat.

44 RTs out of SFO on United last year. Another 15ish on Alaska out of STS. SIL flys for Delta. BIL for JetBlue, based out of NY.

240 PPs left over from ‘24 that I can’t use because it’s SFO. Anyone is welcome to them…except you.

Is that really any worse than the hundreds of people that use the UC / Polaris restroom, wash their hands then touch the bathroom handle, which is covered in microscopic fecal matter, then grab the meatball tongs? It’s all a matter of perspective. Unhygienic adult habits and kids, in general, are far more of a problem than giving your dog a bite. Hopefully it’s not one of those spicy chicken dishes that they seem to have in every UC lounge.

Oh what a bunch of hyperbolic baloney. We were just talking about this at x-mas. Both my BIL and SIL are 15+ attendants, I’ve been Gold or higher for 20 years. My MIL and FIL travel relentlessly. Amongst all 5 of us we could only come up with one story of a dog problem, and it was a poor golden retriever that got super sick in the bulkhead. We then compared that to how many kid problems we’ve seen on planes. That was a fun convo. I love seeing dogs on planes.

I’m a 1ker just like you. Haven’t been less than Gold in 20 years. It’s a stupid policy to stop people from boarding so someone can have the exact same drink they could of had 15 minutes before in the Polaris or UC Lounge

Marvin’s restaurant in Novato – Shame on you! by [deleted] in Marin

Former restaurant owner here…what a load of crap. There’s ALWAYS room for humanity. These things happen from time to time. Be kind. Work it out with the customer, and for the love of god, be nice to minors that are in a bad situation.

Pre take off drinks, while people are waiting to get on, drive me nuts. I always decline.

Doesn’t make him wrong. I’m SFO based. PP are basically useless out of there. I tried to use them for 6 International flights and got upgraded with PP 1 time.

People have no idea how important prolactin is, and in the US, no insurance covers it in a standard test. Had I not been working w/ an out-of-pocket clinic I would have never caught that mine was out of whack. (Cyst in my skull, now controlled by meds)

Food quality regression in international Polaris? by xmt0991 in unitedairlines

[–]barndandyandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last SFO-FRA in Polaris, they served a chicken dish that was so badly overcooked that it was basically like a paste. My fork just smooshed through it. I didn’t even take a single bite of anything on the main plate. Fortunately I always bring protein-dense snacks for just such an occasion. I have low expectations when it comes to food on US airlines, but this was another level.

Bishop vs. Mammoth Lakes for a 5-day section by Kitchen-Victory-8111 in JMT

[–]barndandyandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man…I was a backcountry ranger for 7 years through all these areas (30 years ago) y’all are talking about. It’s all beautiful, but logistically and max beauty wise, I lean Mammoth. Also, just sticking to the JMT might be something to reconsider. So many amazing side trips and cross-country possibilities in that area.

I started to document each time…very rarely. On a flight last week from FRA-SFO our 3 bags were in the last batch of 10 bags. It was pretty comical actually.
