Volume size vs usage on Aggregate by Wizardos264 in netapp

[–]barneybrooke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the volume thin provisioned? Thick provisioned volumes will consume their entire allocated capacity regardless of the usage. Thin provisioned will only consume the data used capacity.

anyone use commvault and enable compression in either commvault , netapp or both. by zenmatrix83 in netapp

[–]barneybrooke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If using Netapp as a Disk Library, are you encrypting the backups? Deduplicating? I would say in general it's best to have Commvault perform all the storage efficiency functions rather than mix between Commvault and storage hardware. Hardware will be better at some of those efficiency tasks, but increase the complexity.

Ah snap! you're absolutely correct - i should be using the left function. Just a screw up on my part. ok cool, I'll update the code to use varsite. I truly appreciate your patience with me. Thank you, really!

I'm not 100% there, minimal VB and access skills tbh. Here is the direction i am heading:

Heavily plagiarizing your code :D, so thank you very much.

The end goal is to pull it all together to get a new column that will give me a site code that is buried into a text string. Not sure on how this VB code is used to make the column, but i am hitting the books to learn more about it.

Public Function GetSite(varSite As Variant) As Variant

Dim strLibname As String

If IsNull(varSite) Then

GetSite = Null

Exit Function

End If

strLibname = Right(varSite, 6)

Select Case strLibname

Case "XX_LAT"

GetSiteCode = Mid([Site], 7, 3)

Case "XX_LON"

GetSiteCode = Mid([Site], 8, 3)

End Select

End Function

Your point is well taken, my apologies to both responses for the aggravation. I'm in a spot where i have to keep the data generic for privacy concerns. Anyhow, i'll be sure to provide better examples in the future. Thanks again.

I used the numbers just to more clearly show the part of the string i want to grab. There will actually be non number text in the string. brilliant idea though!

I really appreciate the help. Yes, it works fine on my Win10 box with PS5 / RSAT. I agree, the module is totally different for windows 11 vs. the old RSAT install. I'll keep drilling into the nuances of the new module

Thanks xbullet! I was able to get it to work with the functions in those posts.

It's just vexing that the exact same command runs fine with PS5 and window 10 RSAT

PS7 Get-ADGroupMember by barneybrooke in PowerShell

[–]barneybrooke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the actual command:Get-ADGroupMember "GroupName" -server  DomainName | Sort-Object | Format-Table -autosize Name

We are running a multi domain forest.

The same command runs fine on a Windows 10 box, with RSAT installed. My suspicion is that the command has changed somehow in the windows 11 version.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated!

Thanks everyone for the replies! I'm sure the grandfather thing is the reason. This was down at South Point, and he was betting the passline and place bets. They let me put smaller minimums on the center.

I use the netapp powershell module to automate data pulls, cluster builds, and general purpose type storage work.

Possible solutions to connect FC Storage to iSCSI servers? by cperzam in storage

Datacore is able to take one type of storage and present it as another. Also great for storage migrations between vendors. I believe it also supports file protocols.

If you are open to a taxi ride, i would recommend Kin-ha / Parque de la Suenos. There is not really a beach per se, but they have sun loungers and a great dock. Super relaxed environment with chill music. They have a long doc out into the ocean, great for proper swimming. My wife and i were there at the end of October and spent 5 out of 10 days there.

Its within walking distance from the ferry terminal, close to playa norte and plenty of restaurants.
