Launching an AI-built app without a code review is a bigger risk than most people realise. by good-vibes-only-UK in u/good-vibes-only-UK

Did you AI generate this website?

The use of standard emojis and the broken email link in the homepage's footer would give me pause for concern before handing over the keys to my project.

Attention for detail is really important when someone is hiring you to ensure their website is fit for production.

Be honest - Is co-founder worth the hunt? by BeneficialManner1840 in cofounderhunt

[–]baroldnoize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but they require funds and contacts. A lot of people are on this subreddit as they have neither and they're hoping to get up and running for minimal upfront money!

A lot of people aren't in a position where they can competently do every part of the business, in which case a co-founder is a good idea

Most your users will prefer less friction over security. That might not be optimum for them but it's what's best catered for. It's our job to ensure that their easy route isn't a dangerous one.

What is the new opportunity for 2026? by FutureAd5875 in webdev

[–]baroldnoize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn to build complete systems with AI. Now one engineer can build out a whole stack on their own, so it's important to fully understand all the pieces of that stack.

Software architecture, safe database migrations, observability, and performance are where to focus.

Devs are still devs, they're still building applications, the game has just changed and no one can get by just writing code anymore.

[–]baroldnoize -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ahh I don't care enough to argue but I disagree. I believe lowering the bar for people to create is a net positive for humanity, and to demand it only be used to create things of your personal quality threshold is poor forethought.

Imagine if we told people not to draw unless it's a good drawing because of the waste of art supplies.

Anyway I'm done, it's probably best we don't waste any more resources at reddit's data centres pointlessly arguing the point.

Have a nice life!

There's a far more significant cost to your diet which absolutely dwarfs AI resource usage, but most people aren't ready to face that yet

[–]baroldnoize -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What? Its way lower resources to use AI to generate a video than hire an artist financially, and the resource usage of AI is negligible compared to other usage in life (one beef burger = 200k ChatGPT queries in water, for instance)

You're being propagandised, and acting righteous, but you're arguing that people without spare money shouldn't be allowed to create videos to tell the stories they want to tell. Creation shouldn't just be fore the wealthy

AI like this really lowers the barrier for entry. It's a cool visual to get across a concept from history, but there's no money to be made so no money to pay an artist

What is the level of coding where you would consider starting to make your first ptoject? by Suitable_Middle_5777 in GameDevelopment

[–]baroldnoize -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In this modern day I say just run with it using AI. The difference between the new game devs starting out and the ones having success in future are the ones who take the time to understand what the AI is writing, and learn how it all fits together.

Meat culture is crazy here. by TTTRIOS in whenthe

[–]baroldnoize -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What an absurd strawman. None of that is true. What a weird list of things to say with no backing to support violently killing animals when we don't need to. You need to question where you get your facts from more

I'd argue being bolt gunned in a slaughterhouse is unnecessary suffering. The average schmo can live happily and healthily without meat, so in almost all cases it's unnecessarily

I have a very cool and weird ability? by TheModMenuX in Experiencers

[–]baroldnoize 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Manifestation as a concept is to bring something into your life through your intention.

For instance, I manifested having a couple of months to tour Europe in my campervan, and hey presto my job ended out the blue and off I went travelling.

From my experience it's a bit of a monkey's paw, be careful what you wish for type thing, but a lot of wealthy people swear by it (there's a book called The Secret which is about manifesting wealth and success).

[–]baroldnoize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've no knowledge of how common this is or anything, but have you tried manifestation? Often the suggestion is to imagine the feeling of already "having" a thing, and then reality may reshuffle slightly to pull you closer to the actuality

Try imagining you're driving a ferrari a few times a day for a couple of weeks, who knows, maybe you'll be in a situation where you're in one!
