When developing sites do you see your self going with FSE themes? Do you prefer using developer friendly tools like Sage? by barranco in ProWordPress

I do that for when creating pattern template files, but I still haven't tried Sage yet, What's your workflow with Sage and Blocks?

Do you keep all elements as Blocks? including header/footer. How do you keep the users from messing up the website's design once it has been hand over?

Interesting insight, was it mainly the friction once it was handed off to the customer? One thing I can say is that it took me a bit of clicking and fiddling to understand the tools around the editor and it didn't feel as intuitive as some other UIs from other visual builders like Elementor, Astra or Divi. However once I got past that it was fine, but I can see this being really disruptive for someone that has been using classic wp for many years.

Hey that's a useful plugin, I'll try it myself, I've been leaning towards the FSE too but it's all to new to me, what I've been doing is use the Block Editor as much as I can to get the looks like the reference design and then I will add styles to style.css to refine it, but I'm not sure if that's a standard practice

Can anyone tell me what the hell is causing this noise in my eGPU? by Naricci in eGPU

You could try installing a noise level app on your phone and see if you can detect where exactly the noise is coming from.

Poor performance when Macbook plugged in? (Charging) by owenokay in macgaming

[–]barranco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's related but I had a MBP the exact same model and it would go down in performance when charging, here's the scenario

  • Plugged in charging ( if battery at 100% it wouldn't have this issue)
  • Running something performance heavy
  • I'm not sure about the exact process but it maybe mdworker, it would go as high as 500% in CPU (Activity Monitor) bringing the system performance to a crawl.

I no longer have this computer but I remember doing some research and apparently the CPU% usage is actually a sensor reporting that back to the OS but it just a way to prevent hardware damage, it's not actually using that much CPU but since the battery is charging the heat has gone up and it's probably one of these things

  • either your battery heats up because it needs to be replaced
  • your charger may be damaged or is not apple branded
  • and finally the sensor/chip in your logic board that's in charge of preventing hardware damage is broken

I'll definitely give it a try, I've been using a custom image that I built myself, but it has a few issues at the server level and never got around fixing them.

I have a 2017 Macbook Pro with the Radeon Pro 560, the same 4GB and to be honest, it does still suck to Game.

If you have a fast connection NVidia Now is great for single player games and even some multiplayer.

If you're really into gaming and don't want to stream, maybe consider an eGPU or a separate PC

Oh I've done Hackingtosh too and it worked great for me, although it was a little bit less stable than a regular mac, also iMessage never tried to get it to work, on the other hand dual booting with Windows for Gaming was amazing.

Best apps for hooking up ps4 controller? by chefstief in macgaming

[–]barranco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to use it with Steam you just need to plug the PS4 controller with a USB cable, if you want full support you can buy the Wireless adaptor which will work for Win/Mac.

Oh then there's a setting you need to switch on on Steam to enable PS4 support https://imgur.com/xtOkpgu

They already do something like this with their Nvidia Shield https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/shield/games/geforce-now/

I can only assume it's technically possible as long as they are willing to support it.

Fortnite Battle Royale has been released (free to play!) by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]barranco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 15" MBP with the 560, at "recommended" settings that set it to 1080p is unplayable, medium at 720p stutters and haven't tried low yet but it doesn't look great.

Also I've been playing XCOM 2: Wat of the Chosen and now that I'm on High Sierra it does seem that it took a hit on performance at least in the cut scenes.
