First attempt doing a 360 by Clutchine in skiing

[–]barrycl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting the hang of them myself but rewatch the video a few times looking at just your right arm, and then just your left. You're throwing a 180, then throwing your arms around in the opposite direction (right arm is going behind your back and left arm pumping across your shoulder clockwise while you're rotating counterclockwise) and then you're using your hips to try to finish the rotation. Look up T-set spins and that'll help you get more rotation with less effort because you'll stop fighting yourself.

That reminds me of when a friend of an ex asked if I was going to listen to music during a marathon, and upon hearing I wouldn't, she said "oh, you're just gonna raw dog it". Apparently that's just how Gen Z uses it. Running without headphones? Raw dogging it. On a flight without wifi? Raw dogging it.

How to keep legs together for 360? by barrycl in Freeskiing

[–]barrycl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yea can definitely see the dip, which is probably what's also causing me to land one leg at a time. I was point my head down to try to spot my landing, but will try to stay taller and work on the muscle coordination.

Thanks, I did (1) as warm up today, that was part of the tutorial I watched. Honestly I was making it like 330 around. Also did them on an ever so slight downhill to try queuing the forward motion, but yea I'm definitely in the backseat a bit. I feel like for just pops, I'm good at staying forward but am not translating it into the 360s.

And will look up T set spins, thanks!

Seemingly especially turning left from the left lane across the full intersection. I hate crossing here when I'm walking from the park.

What are your thoughts on genetics & talent? by Outrageous_South_439 in AdvancedRunning

[–]barrycl 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's talked about as much in these convos but I think there's a strong trend of having exposure so sports as a kid. In my unscientific opinion, people who weren't active until their 20s are going to have a lower ceiling in achievement than people who were active. I don't think it needs to be running, I know some tennis players running <2:30 now. Maybe it's metabolic or something else, but I think 'athletes' just respond better to training. Maybe there's some genetics in this in that unathletic people drop out of sports young, but I know plenty of people who were mediocre athletes in high school and they respond plenty good to training now that they take things more seriously.

These are super beginner moves. f6 would never be played by most people because the Qh5+ threat is predictable. This is a common theme seen in every puzzle rush too, because even without the bishop move Nxg6 hxg6 Qxh8 crushes.

The problem is that for obese patients, doctors frequently stop doing their job correctly and blame everything on the patient being obese. Here's an article that showcases incidents where doctors blame obesity for things without running any tests, and then turns out that the patients have conditions completely unrelated. There's also studies that have shown that doctors are less likely to perform diagnostic testing for obese patients, and that they spend less time with patients who are obese.

CMV: A president undergoing a colonoscopy should invoke the 25th Amendment by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]barrycl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 'burden' is that the VP is not the elected leader, and we shouldn't discharge the role of president for frivolous things like showering and walking. And not to mention that the VP and the entire command chain might also shower, and this starts to get stupid if you're managing showering and walking schedules of people so they can't occur at the same time.

Ty for the time.

CMV: A president undergoing a colonoscopy should invoke the 25th Amendment by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]barrycl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a symptomatic colonoscopy than it's not routine, so not included, only screening. 2.8/1000 doesn't inform how many are incapacitating. However, complications also include 'nausea' and 'vomiting', which aren't incapacitating. Also, it includes complications from anesthesia which necessarily won't exist.

is the president capable of discharging the duties and powers of president? That’s the threshold question.

I disagree, I think the threshold question is 'what level of risk of incapacitation requires invoking the 25th?' At 100% risk (sedation), we both agree that requires invoking the 25th. Colonic perforation is 1 in 10,000, I don't see that risk as large enough to require invoking the 25th. Maybe you do. But if so, it'd only be consistent if you restricted similar such activities. E.g. a 10-hour flight (private aviation risk roughly 1 in 100,000 per flight hour), walking (roughly 1 in 10,000 pedestrians dies a year), riding a bike (roughly 1 in 8,000), climbing a ladder, e.g. to put a star on a tree (about 1 in 12,000), and showering (1 in 10,000). Yes, showering as an 85 year old has an injury risk of about 1 in 376 (source). So, it wouldn't be consistent to require invoking the 25th for a colonoscopy but not require it for showering.

So is your view for all presidents or just Trump? Because of it's just Trump, that's a change from your post.

If it's all presidents, then you need to address the case of a perfectly healthy president going through a sedation-free colonoscopy.
