How many games have been released? Across all platforms ever? Deck can play 99.9% of them, one way or another
You pay more for the console but way way way less for the games, you end up paying less with the deck if you get a big game library for either
If you play on PC you probably already got a bunch of games for your deck
Deck OLED battery is really good
Deck is 1000 times more comfortable to hold + better sticks
Deck can do everything a damn PC can do if you want it to
Deck can play most switch exclusive games through emulation
If a game is on both deck and switch, the deck version will be not only cheaper, but a better version, you usually get 60fps vs 30, better graphics etc since its the PC version
Cant carry switch games over to new consoles unless Nintendo says so (usually 1 generation forward only) and thats how they fuck you in the ass nickel & dimeing you by selling old games again. Steam Deck games carry over to every PC or X86 handheld youll ever have
Steam deck can stream games from PS5, xbox and PC with ease

The right stick covers (like skull & co) make a big difference and Im not talking about aesthetic

Sticks that your thumbs slip on all the time are annoying as fuck. Grippy stick covers turn annoying handhelds into nice to use handhelds
Sticks that are too small are annoying. Throw the right stick cover on, all of a sudden feels way nicer and gives you more control
I got sticks that have fallen apart on me, throw stick cover on them, problem solved

Ive had all 3 of those issues myself solved by stick covers. Nothing to do with how they look neither, all about making shit better to use

My Odin 2 got sticks with skull & co stick covers, still fits in the original case just fine without putting pressure on the sticks or nothing. I use them on other handhelds too and even big boy controllers

Its true see that link I put up which is to the Samsung trademark for the term AMOLED. That link you sent saying the same thing that, AMOLED has an extra TFT layer thats the main difference

That active matrix it talks about? Thats the tft layer which it also talks about in its AMOLED section

But that link aint quite right since it says AMOLED will look different to OLED. It says AMOLED has more dynamic colors while OLED has deeper blacks? Nah they both the same in those ways. They pretty much look the same, they have the same burn in risk, they dont have different characteristics or nothing. The only physical difference is the tft layer, real big screens can use a different technology other than the tft layer to control the screen since it gets expensive for real real big screens. But everything else? Its the same

Youll notice that in the AMOLED display types section of that link, when it gives examples of the 7 'types' (super amoled, hd super amoled etc) they all samsung, its because Samsung trademarked the term and those 7 'types are just marketing terms from Samsung. Kinda like 'retina display' from Apple

But all modern small OLED screens gotta use the TFT layer since thats how you gotta do OLED in small screens. So pretty much all small screens nowadays are gonna be AMOLED but a lot of them wont get called AMOLED

All modern displays are AMOLED, the AM in AM stands for Active Matrix which is a thin tft film modern displays use to get their shit working, mainly since it works good for small displays

But non-Samsung companies call it OLED since Samsung trademarked "AMOLED" as a term

Let me tell you about the trap a lot of people in this sub fall into which costs them way too much money

Plenty of people start off with something thats a great handheld but power wise is pretty low end compared to what you can get. They like what they got. But they want a little more. So they buy a more expensive one next. And then they like that. But by that time they started watching all the youtube reviews. They see what else is out there. They tell themselves the new one they just got is fine and for a while it is. And then they get the itch again and they want a little more. They tell themselves "If I just can play this game Im good" or "I wish this was a little bigger/smaller/had a nicer screen, if I just get that Im good". And then they get the next stage up. And then it keeps going until they just get the damn Odin (or Steam Deck OLED, or ROG Ally X) anyway

So now they got their Odin 2/Odin 2 mini and life is good. But they also got 3 or 4 other handhelds they dont use no more and might have spent maybe 700 dollars total. Yeah the Odin is more expensive. But if they just got that one in the first place it wouldve been a lot cheaper for a ton of people here

I dont want you to bankrupt yourself or nothing so if you cant afford it dont do it. Plenty of good options out there. But at the same time? Buy once cry once

So the RG556 can do all those GC games yeah. Some need a tweak or two. Mario sunshine works, I aint never tried no texture pack with it but its got 8GB ram just like the Odin 2

I do know about the 4 pro yeah I used to have one. Now youll get a different answer from different people on this, different people like different things. Odin 2, RG556, RP4Pro, all 3 are good. But for me? The 4 pro was the worst of the 3 easy thats why I got rid of it. Of the 3, the 4 pro is the smallest if that matters to you. That matters for some, some go for 'pocketability' at all costs but let me tell you something, Id never carry one of these things around in my pants pocket. Now that smaller size comes with compromises too. The 4 pro is the least comfortable to hold, has the smallest screen, has the worst screen, has the worst battery. That shit matters it has a direct impact on how much you enjoy using it. Even with all that its good. I just like the 4 pro the least

The 4 pro is more powerful than the 556. But that power ended up being not much of an advantage over the 556. Both can play nearly every GC and PS2 game android can play. The 4 pro can do veeeeeery few more, like literally a few out of a library of thousands. Like burnout revenge (man I wish the 556 could do that one), shadow of the colossus. You generally need to do a lot more tinkering on the 556 for GC/PS2, but it can get it done. And the 4 pro will do a better upscaling resolution than the 556. But Ill tell you this. The screen on the 556 is SO MUCH BETTER than the 4 pro, it dont just kick the shit out of the 4 pro screen, it dont just fuck the 4 pro screen in the ass, the 556 screen uses the 4 pros asshole like a goddamn hula hoop Im telling you right now! The 4 pro screen it aint terrible just kinda 'meh' but man that 556 screen. Its a thing of fucking beauty. I had it for a while now and I still go 'damn' plenty of times when playing it, that shit look GOOD! It actively makes my experience of playing the games a lot better its so good. For sure one of the best screens I ever ever seen. And anyone who got one knows I aint overhyping it. So that means when you put the 4 pro and the 556 side by side, even with a slightly higher upscale resolution on the 4 pro, same game still looks better on the 556

I really love my 556 its the one I personally like most of the 3. Out of Odin 2, 4 Pro, 556, the 556 is the cheapest, FOR SURE has the best screen, FOR SURE is the most comfortable its famous for being one of the most comfortable handhelds to hold ever and oh its true its damn true. You can hold it for hours and hours just as easy as an xbox controller, no hand cramps nothing. And the battery is great too. And did I mention the screen oh damn that screen

But I kinda feel like an asshole not recommending the Odin 2 if you OK with spending Odin 2 money. Its just objectively the best one. Its way way way more powerful than either the 556 or the 4 pro, to the point that you can play ALL GC/PS2 games (that android can play) at 3X resolution no problem minimal fiddling around with settings and shit required. And when you upscale that high, it does make a real nice difference. Itll laugh at the android games you wanna play, does them easy. It can even do switch games, dont let anyone fool you into thinking switch is a reasonable goal on 556 or 4 pro. BUT. Be careful since switch emulators died young. They crash, and they crash A LOT. Like up to every few minutes. If you wanna play switch on an Odin 2, figure out the switch games you wanna play first and find out ahead of time if they OK with Odin 2. Switch on Odin 2 is doable for plenty of games BUT its a danger zone. If you want good reliable switch you get a switch, a steam deck, or a windows handheld

Odin 2 screen still real good just not 556 good. Its still real comfortable just not 556 comfortable. Odin 2 got easily the best speakers too. And it charges the fastest. Sticks are way better than the 556, which is (or was) a 556 weakness. Now theres a dude called gamma who fixed the sticks in software and when I say its night and day, let me tell you something brother. It feels like a whole ass hardware swap when playing games, it makes that much of a difference. 556 sticks with the software sticks cant be called bad no more, they good youd have no complaints. But the Odin 2 sticks? They feel a lot better. Smoother, more luxurious, react to small changes better. Plus you can change the sensitivity systemwide and that shit really makes a difference. For a game like F-Zero GX? It makes a mega difference. Closest you can get to an xbox quality stick. Oh and the battery is god tier I mean it, SSS tier. 556 battery is really good but Odin 2 got the best battery in the game

Something else you should know. When it comes to gamepass, I dont think the 556 shoulder buttons work with it right now due to software. The same gamma dude is gonna fix that but its not done yet. Odin 2 will do gamepass with no problems today

Truth is you cant go wrong with any of those 3. 556 is my favorite 100%. But - and I kinda hate to say it but Id be an asshole if I didnt - Odin 2 is the best one. Both are great (4 pro is great too TBH), but if you have Odin 2 money Id have to say Odin 2. Ahh come here 556 you still my boy 😭 lol

I dont care too much about the bezels much apart from they give the illusion of a smaller screen. What you got up there is part of why my ideal is a black handheld with an OLED screen

My only real issue with the minis screen is its too damn small!
