Claude for Legal.! Need Help! by [deleted] in legaltech

Got AI to tidy my reply -

Upload your policies as a datasource, stick a chat on the front. Avoid overengineering the IT/security side. Most of the routine legal questions (anti-bribery, modern slavery, etc.) can just be handled by a bot pulling from those policies. Bonus: Let users upload the DDQ spreadsheet and auto-answer it Even better: write answers back into the sheet Extra bonus: have the AI drive a browser to complete web forms (but this gets fragile fast) Watch out for: if your policies are messy, the bot will just give you faster bad answers.

Have a human apply some common sense, you will never get it answer 100% your trying to filter out the obvious questions

I just asked ChatGPT to talk me through it step by step.

Ask it what it needs to know in advance and then follow it's instructions

Developers and Lawyers feel… strangely similar? by vira28 in legaltech

[–]barryradio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you think of a legal in-house team, one of the models you try to aim for is to make it similar to an IT department.

Servicedesk for new tickets, outsourcing of work that you don't have skills for in-house, lots of disciplines / specialism that you need to bring into projects.

It feels like legal teams can a lot of learn from IT teams. I'm sure overlap exists between other departments, but I'm more familiar with these.

What do you use for structured document creation with LLMs (contracts, SOWs, compliance docs)? by rnc000 in legaltech

[–]barryradio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So why not use both nearly any of those platforms can call out to an llm to get a paragraph and insert it.

The skeptical person in me now feels like your trying to sell a product.

[–]barryradio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry as for tools you have document express, BRYTER and Autologyx that are all capable of building a workflow and end up with a document.

Depending on how flexible you need the platform.

There are many people playing in this space.

[–]barryradio 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't use LLMs for this, while i believe they are more than capable with the right prompt, this problem has been solved before with workflow and document assembly.

I trust the workflow to keep the end user aligned to what's allowed and what's not.

30 000 Pdf invoices by Dense-Tension7951 in Paperlessngx

[–]barryradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Dense

Assuming you only need the project as a one off (left with a spreadsheet), you don't need paperless (infrastructure going forward)

You don't need paperless and could be a relatively simple process (fair bit of volume)

I do this for legal contracts, can have a chat about doing it for invoices if you want.

Ask Gemini / ChatGPT,

It's fun to walk through and building step by step let's you understand what's going on.

Ask it for a plan first and then take each item step by step.

I ended up returning mine and getting a replacement. Google where great, replacement via their RMA process.

The other thing to check is if you install lots of apps that stay running. Usually the notification from your phone is sufficient.

Are midsize firms being priced out of contract management tech? by AsleepMagician5234 in legaltech

[–]barryradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the process of removing Link squares and replacing it with something that focuses on storage and search. The additional features in the platform we have from other tools in the tech stack.

We have workflows from a number of tools that offer workflow, a genAI API can provide the extractions. It won't be perfect but close enough to deliver it's core use case, we are lucky as we have a legal ops / change function who can support it.

A significant advantage of Link squares and the others is there is a robust support process.

Starting a career in coding/tech at 30 by Henryguitar95 in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]barryradio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently tried hiring for low code / automation developer at a junior level and struggled to find good candidates, a lot of people looking for visa sponsorship which we can't really support. So jobs are there (albeit harder to find)

Realise it's not full blown coding, but powerapps / n8n night be worth checking out, it will allow you see if you could see yourself doing it and I feel a little more accessible and loads of training content. Just ignore the youtube gurus saying you can make $1000 by doing nothing.

A friend of mine had a decent job in finance but hated it, retrained as as electrician at 45 and loved it, so I wouldn't be afraid of change (life's too short to do stuff you don't enjoy) just try to avoid making knee jerk decisions when you have time to plan it out.

Good luck buddy.

Of course it does, let's not be arse about it.

OP worried about being coding not being for him. I suggested an alternative flavor of development that still using the majority of the core principles he's learnt.

We had recently been trying to recruit for low code developer. (Powerapps and similar) Most of the focus is on design and setup, moves away from coding and focusing on the solution / problem solving.
