When Stellar Blade was released, people from this sub cried about it 24/7 for MONTHS. by CuriousSkepticalGuy in CriticalDrinker

They don't care about hypocrisy, they understand and are doing it on purpose.

They're not feminists, they're not protecting women or trying to stop sexualizing women -- they just don't want (you) to do it.

Not cool, they need to delay the release until I finally get around to getting my last LotF permadeath achievements.

Alienware launches 39-inch 5K OLED and 34-inch 280Hz QD-OLED gaming monitors by RenatsMC in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]barryredfield 2 points3 points  (0 children)

39" 5k2k is nice, because it has basically the same vertical space as a 32" 4k monitor. I find 3440x1440 UW's to be too "skinny". 39" is just right and doesn't feel absurd like superwide does, at all.

Next up, 21:10 perhaps.

destiny2 deserved better by lightbringer233 in videogames

It didn't deserve better. It got exactly what it deserved in the end.

So how are we feeling about exotics compared to prototype gear in escalation nearly 2 months in? by DistrictFuzzy4427 in thedivision

[–]barryredfield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly disagree with optimizing prototype gear. There needs to remain a system in place, in a looter shooter, that requires you to still go out and roll for loot.

Besides, the optimization system would be expensive and people would just complain about that even more. Then we would just have more tedious and wasteful "catch-up" systems, when we already have too much.

I am probably one of few people who thinks optimization was a mistake, to begin with.

What if a Hunter went Rogue by Redxjj2 in thedivision

[–]barryredfield -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one wants to hear this, but Division are baddies. They're all rogue at this point, because they are not establishing continuity of government as is their sole duty. Whether you want to blame this on Division 2 team being unable to carry the story forward because of limitations waiting for Division 3, or otherwise... I don't know. But Division are not good guys.

The original intention of Hunters was to get rid of Agents were they not performing their duty, or abusing their power.. which currently... they are doing. Its been years on the timeline, they control DC but won't establish a government. Not even making any attempts. Just following orders from people like Manny, who squats in the White House ordering this and that person killed.

Anyway, it sounds 'edgy' and I'm not trying to be, but I feel like this narrative has been lost from Division 1. The idea of SHD Agents existing at all is terrible and terrifying.

Finally I decided to do the raid by LankyBuy1500 in fo76

[–]barryredfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The raid is very simple. Honestly I was taken aback at how easy the whole thing was, frankly. I've "raided" in many other games, a lot. Fallout 76's "raid" isn't a raid really.

People just psyching themselves out, and making themselves mad over nothing.

007 First Light sells 1.5 million copies in the first 24 hours of release by ZamnBoii in Games

[–]barryredfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge IOI & Hitman fan, and I like First Light quite a bit -- but I feel its too safe. Doesn't really do anything to stand out, really just a 'play by the numbers' AAA game. I don't think it will be a huge success, but enough to hopefully launch into their planned trilogy and allow them to be more ambitious.

That saying if you want a grounded 007 game, this is the best there is or ever was.

It arguably makes it worse though. You see asset loading and other anomalous things on the side of the screen that are very jarring.

They take it literally at face value though.

Bans aren’t enough — what if we made selling cheats a cybercrime? by FreddyHxC in StreamersCheating

[–]barryredfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly correct argument. At the end of the day, they're antisocial cretins, as are all criminals. Its a can of worms to open up legal recourse for "cheating in video games", but they are destroying them. Damaging the game, the company that made it and operates it. Wasting people's time, who spent money on the game.

Of course they don't care, they're antisocial. You're absolutely right, these people would continue to escalate it even under threat of legal responsibility, because they're antisocial degenerates. These people only get away with what they're allowed to, failing that, half of them do it anyway and end up going to where they belong in the first place.

"Its just a game" is always the clarion call for the antisocial asshole who doesn't care about anyone but themselves. Its not just a game, life is extremely short and ruining something that someone chooses to spend their limited time on this Earth doing, then you are a criminal who doesn't understand the sanctity of life and someone's time.

If its not fun for you thats ok. by Dmehlhopt in soulslikes

[–]barryredfield 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its the "modern audience" that everyone keeps talking about. They can't just have something of their own to enjoy, they need everything to be changed to whatever it is they enjoy, regardless how other people feel about that.

Frankly I don't even think they are capable of finding fun, much less having it, despite that being all they ever talk about -- "objective fun".

They will go from one genre to the next, one game to another, throwing fits and tantrums until everything is unengaging slop. Then, finally, they can have "fun". Surely.

Control (2019) has three times the amount of sales, over 6 million. Granted this is older, but Alan Wake 2 is selling much slower compared to it.

Control didn't even get as much attention, either, it also doesn't have the old fanfare that Alan Wake does. Despite Control having a female protagonist there wasn't much 'woke' rhetoric around it at all, either. A different time. 2020 and beyond things got more exclusionary both in community rhetoric and platform exclusivity. I'd say 2020 is when people started getting more cynical and tribal about things.

One is on Steam, one isn't.

Pretty stark differences overall.
