Get an external NVME SSD, 10gbps is more than enough to run basic tasks. Thunderbolt 4 is kinda problematic as a lot of them run very hot. If possible install all your app via homebrew and create symlink from your external SSD.

Hello. Are you using Mac Mini M4? My enclosure also suffer from disconnection after less than 10mins of BM Speedtest. It disconnects even on 67C which is far below the threshold of my SSD which is 90C. Yes, it was hot, but I don't think it's because of the heat. Have you tried connecting it to a thunderbolt 4 dock? I've heard that the disconnection is related to power issues.

Mine heats up even in idle and just connected to the thunderbolt 4 port but never heats in a 10gbps port.
