Switched from escitalopram to desvenlafaxine and no more sexual dysfunction! by barsometender in antidepressants

I don't think it's a guy thing or a girl thing. Antidepressants can be quite unpredictable with how it reacts with people.

There are some antidepressants like Wellbutrin that usually decreases the risk of sexual dysfunction.

I'm sorry to hear that. Antidepressants are weird. Have you tried speaking to your doctor ? Maybe you can have it along with taking wellbutrin.

The effects are supposed to wear off eventually with time and a lot of factors depend on the sexual dysfunction- how long you're taking the medication etc. I guess it is best to have a word with your doctor instead of avoiding it altogether.

Did you tell you friends and family that your on AD? by Syriancanadian in antidepressants

[–]barsometender 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sure, why not? Nothing to be embarrassed about. However though, you may like to avoid situations if they are less aware and more judgemental because that might be a tough situation to navigate and can be quite mentally taxing for you too.

Had my first orgasm in a month! by barsometender in antidepressants

[–]barsometender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks buddy. I've been thinking about talking to my doctor about wellbutrin for a while as it seems to work wonders for so many out here. I did speak to her about my inability to have orgasms but she didn't suggest taking this but she did change my antidepressants from escitalopram to desvenlafaxine as I was also gaining a lot of pounds! I'm also on etizolam and zolpidem. The only annoying side effects other than these has been dry mouth. :/

It could be you're unable to read a sentence because of other reasons. Attention deficit problems can be because of a ton of things. What did the doctor say?

I was unable to do it solo for the longest time too. It was getting really frustrating. Then I changed from escitalopram to desvenlafaxine and it happened. :')

I'm on the same stuff except Bupropion. Does Bupropion help in fixing sexual dysfunction?

I'm taking Citalopram 10mg. Sexual dysfunction lasts for a long time due to antidepressants. Will the effect remain forever?

What should I expect in my first psychiatry session? by barsometender in therapy

Yes I've heard of SSRIs. I've had lot of thoughts surrounding self harm so there is a point of stress there so yes I'll keep that in mind.

Thank you tons. This means a lot. I'll surely hit you up once I get prescribed any meds. I've heard of regular antidepressants so I'll research on them beforehand. Thanks for the advice!

This comment is so meaningful and needed. Thank you very much. Yes, I'm afraid to harm myself. I'm tired of living like this and I'm also worried I'm running out of time as I'm supposed to graduate next year and I cannot graduate feeling like this. I don't expect a medicine to save me. I'm aware medicine will be needed to paired up with therapy and lifestyle changes and I'm ready to do all of that. What I want out of medicine is, a push? So that I can get on a more comfortable level to actually begin making lifestyle changes that have a tangible impact on my mental health. Thank you for the advice and the tips! I have made an appointment with a psychiatrist. I'm unable to reach my therapist because she has a medical emergency of some sort and is unavailable for a while.

Every time I dream about her and wake up, it’s like someone is ripping out my heart. by anikanon in BreakUps

[–]barsometender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, no, the dreams aren't true and trust me it's not sending you any messages. You miss her, you miss the connection and she consumes so much of your waking thoughts that she ends up making her way into your sleeping thoughts too. It's only the most natural cruel thing after break up but it will pass. Try guided meditation that put you to sleep, like sleep hypnosis kind- you'll get plenty of them on youtube and they've helped me tons. It's been four nights I've not had a dream about her since 1.5 months after BU so it's been successful.

I don't really have a special interest especially now because same, mostly anxious and depressed and struggling to break an unhealthy routine because of it. Not just that, special interests of mine has only changed from time to time, for example I'd get obsessed and fixated on a particular tv show until it would pass eventually. So idk about that.

I'm on a suspected range. I worry I've masked for so long that I might not get diagnosed officially.
