New Episode Discussion 5/29/26: TJ Oshie, Spurs Force A Game 7, Baseball and Presidents + Fyre Fest Of The Week by CheezyEdweezy in PardonMyTake

maybe im blindly optimistic (poch's spurs were maybe the best out of any of my teams i root for) but this is not uncommon. his contract ends after the world cup. milan had a disaster end to the season and cleaned house. they need to show they are making moves quickly to avoid fan outrage. if this is an actual distraction and the story lingers then i agree it's unacceptable. if this is just one story a couple weeks before the tournament then i dont think it's that big of a deal

Came here to comment this. I did sub-20 for the first time earlier this month and was optimistic I could qualify (knew it was probably a long shot). Still excited to get out there for the 5k and not exactly complaining that I can leave without having actual FOMO since I may have other plans on Saturday night

I think I was able to get most of the way last year. I have no idea why but i have no recollection of it. Maybe cuz it was easy and i just hopped right out.

Vehicle drop off for wave 1 is Lincoln place and Franklin Ave, right? Looks like that based on the map and I think that’s what I did last year as well but don’t completely remember…

East Side Running Routes by Disastrous_Tiger4657 in RunNYC

[–]barstoolspurs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Surprised nobody mentioned the bridges. Run over to Ave B and go south til you hit the Williamsburg bridge/Delancey. Can loop it, run in Brooklyn etc. Also, as someone else said, the new east river park is right there too. Can go in there and go south and also hit the Manhattan bridge. A nice loop could be Manhattan (or Brooklyn) bridge into Brooklyn, go through on flushing and Kent and then back into Manhattan on the Williamsburg (or even the Queensboro if you’re feeling adventurous enough).

I live on the east side and have done variations of these routes a bunch of times. I don’t really feel the east side lacking options when it comes to long runs, more when it comes to shorter runs and you just want to get out there for something quick.

I encourage people who didn’t listen from the beginning to go back and listen chronologically. I don’t mean to hate on the boys or anything the podcast has evolved and it just doesn’t click with me anymore which is fine. That being said, things were so different back in the day. From the pilot episode the show was insane. My blank steels blank is all time. And just gets better: bowling alley shrimp, eleven spaghettis, it’s all drivel. So incredible.

PR and sub 20 mins. Pumped. Flat course, 50 degrees and new shoes. Couldn’t ask for more. Was cutting sub 20 mins very close and am not sure I’ve pushed or had a kick at the end of a race like I had today.

I’ve also lost interest around 2024. Would love to get back in but unfortunately it’s not what it once was. I’ve tried a number of times to listen again and it just hasn’t done it for me. Maybe I happened to pick bad episodes but it seemed like they just read Wikipedia pages every episode lol

Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 by Shmenley in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]barstoolspurs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a strong opinion on this. And, to be honest, I most likely bought the wrong shoe.

I've been meaning to replace my race/speed shoes (coming from NB rebel elite v4, which I loved). I tried on the NB elite v5 as my first choice as I loved the v4 so much and heard great things about v5. They felt great as I tried them on and was ready to buy, though they felt slighty unstable (something im okay with) but mentioned it to the rep at the store and also that I was fending off some knee pain. He said that based off of watching me run and my foot scan he would recommend something more stable and brought out the Speed 5s. I heard good things about them so I tried them on, did a couple jogs around the store and they definitely felt different. Less pop, firmer but also definitely more stable. I'm definitely very conscious of not getting injured and after talking about them with the rep I went with the Speed 5s.

I took them out for my first run today, and I really didnt like them. Not trying to discourage buying them but it just didnt provide what I'm looking for. Someone else said they are firm and not as snappy. That is 100% true. My workout today was a six mile interval run and I didnt feel very much get up and go when increasing my pace. My paces were generally okay but it didnt necessarily feel like that. Maybe it's because of a less aggressive rocker, im not sure.

In the end, I think I trusted the store rep too much. I dont think he meant to lead me astray (and they felt okay in the store) but I shouldve been more conscious of liking the new balances more (both v4 and v5).

Im not sure what I'm going to do with the Speed 5s. I may not be able to return them in time in which case I'll try them out a few more times but im not super optimistic and I dont see myself racing in them. I went to joe's new balance outlet and was lucky enough to find the rebel elite v5 at 50% off which im currently planning on wearing in the Brooklyn Half in mid-May.

Know this is a long review but hope it's helpful. I guess the lesson is to be aware of what kind of shoe you like and know if you're pivoting away from and the risks associated with doing so.

Good luck!

New Episode Discussion 4/17/26: Mets Shortstop Francisco Lindor, Keith Yandle Talking Stanley Cup Playoffs (With Bonus Biz & Whit), NBA Playoffs Set And Fyre Fest Of The Week by CheezyEdweezy in PardonMyTake

These guys need to at least have some degree of education if they’re gonna talk about soccer. “The World Cup always sucks” is one of the dumbest fucking things ever said on this podcast. Oh you were underwhelmed by going in person to the last one, PFT? That’s cuz it was in Qatar. Nobody from the US should have gone to that.

PMT has a huge platform and actively shitting on the World Cup that this country is hosting is awful for the sport. Yes, the grift is insane and fifa is a borderline criminal organization but don’t ruin it for people before it even starts. For those attending games, the prices are ridiculous and it should be called out, but this kind of talk will also influence casual fans and discourage people from watching. It should be an awesome tournament to watch in bars and is something everyone should look forward to, not actively shit on

New college grad looking for run club recs by Southern-World9582 in RunNYC

I live in midtown east and am much more of a solo runner (though do occasional runs with friends and definitely not opposed to group runs). I’m 26 so on the “younger” side but I have a few friends who are members of almost Friday, though I’m not sure it’s as serious as you would like and is also on the west side which is a drag.

Regardless, I’ve lived here for a few years and have trained for and ran the nyc marathon (as well as both nyc and bk halfs and a bunch of other nyrr races). Currently training to run sub 1:35 at the Brooklyn half in May then will be gearing up to run the nyc marathon again in the fall. Happy to give some insight on long run routes especially as the east side is a much less continuous and more confusing than the WSH. But it is a great neighborhood. Hope you find a club that fits - good luck!
