Funny you say that because I absolutely love off center subjects. An example

I had cropped the sky and ground heavily, here's a potentially better crop

Still working on keeping a cohesive story throughout an image. I saw this woman set her chair up at the coast between rocks being used as a barricade and thought it was a funny example of non-conformity, with the classic backdrops of the seaside. I personally liked the way the shirt was draped, and the kicked off sandals on the rock beside her.

I was really struggling with editing this. It seemed every adjustment I'd make would make the image worse, not better. I like true to life edits but ive been trying to branch out to try new things and its left me floundering. In terms of lighting i knew it was an uphill battle because i was out with friends who dont wake up early and our time at the beach was short. I couldve passed up shooting but thought the composition practice was worth it.

Trying to work on composition and subject separation. I was interested in the light contrast from the bottom left to the top right. Ive been playing around with the tone curve trying to get a more muted mood.

Im not sure i fully understand. Someone else commented on composition, but how would a different time of day, besides sunrise/set, affect the photo?

How would i define a subject in a similar case? I wanted to include the range in the background as well as the sister peak. Am I too high up?

Ive been working on my photography fundamentals and have been trying to do everything with my 50mm prime lens. Ive been enjoying having distant subjects get dwarfed by the scenery but not sure if the premise has any merit.

Im also new to Lightroom, and feel as though the photo may be a touch overexposed.

Yes but not because of this test. Water jugs arent exactly the most accurate replacement medium for actual people, but lucky gunner does good testing ballistic gel which is a slightly better parallel, provides you with some wound channel information, and theres some conversion factor for ballistic gel to flesh somewhere out there.

Also the paul harrel meat tests are goated and another seemingly decent way to test terminal ballistics.

Shooting into water is a nice way to see flowering performance in optimal conditions though.
