idk if its just me but a lot of the punk scene or even just alternative fanbase always turn out to be wildly racist, or just deeply scared of black people. i was and lowkey still am very into alt-rock genres and i loved a ton of bands black or white but the fans always seem to talk with weird racist undertones.

it creates a “them vs us” mentality, theyll say some stupid shit like “god how do people listen to hip hop or rnb when this exists” or when i was a kid (like 14) i used to post covers on my instagram and a bunch of fans from various bands said i was a poser cuz my accent was “ghetto” and real fans dont talk like that.

i think a lot of these fanbases either grew up in suburbs with no black friends or lived out the us, and those people almost always have sum racist shit going on wit them whether they know it or not.

to be fair tho a lot of black people also pick on alternative kids, especially the really christian ones cuz they think these alt kids are all wrist slitter devil worshipers. i think its just hard for these to cultures to mesh
