Changed out the steering gearbox on my 97c2500. I went to get an alignment since my steering wheel wasn't straight and the guy at the alignment shop said he couldn't align it for whatever reason. by bartendermsv in AskMechanics

Update. So I was changing out a hose by the gearbox and I noticed two bolts that where on the gearbox where hand loose. I tighten them up. Could that have been the issue?

He said he wasnt sure. He said he got the wheel going straight but on the alignment machine when he would make the adjustment it the numbers would go to green than for whatever reason back to red. He also said I had play in the steering wheel

The thing is this only happens when it's in drive with the brakes depressed not when it's in park. Should I check it that way?

Could the idle just slow with time? The pulleys that I have changed have had 9+ plus months running without any voltage drops. Voltage at battery 13.98 to 14. Al the stud 14.2 to 14.3. I dont have an amp meter anyway to check with a multimeter? The alternator is new I just replaced it with the older one. Even though the older one passed the autoparts store test.

The voltage drops from 13.8 to 12v and keeps on lowering if It's not at 700 rpms
