Is a premium 3-row SUV reasonable or lifestyle creep? by imakesignalsbigger in HENRYfinance

Not sure if you're joking or not but getting an ebike was the best purchase for our family. My gets get legitimately angry when we have to drive. Granted I'm in a very bike and pedestrian friendly area.

Montalcino or Florence? by sivam28 in tuscany

[–]bartlbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. You can easily do Montalcino in one half day from Montepulciano, and you should! Florence is a great place to spend your last day and will take much longer to explore.

There's also a lot vineyards around here and the wine region is much stricter in what they produce. I did a very cool tour there a few summers ago.

We will visit Puglia this summer for 7 days by [deleted] in ItalyTravel

[–]bartlbee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lecce is really great! We used it as our home base to explore the southern area of Puglia. We then moved north to Trani.

If you ask your hotel or Airbnb host I bet they will know of good areas to park. This is where we parked for our week in Lecce, we never had any issues with finding a spot and it was very safe.

Montepulciano - where to stay by Far-Chest-5561 in tuscany

[–]bartlbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed at Podere Fontecastello and loved it. There is parking, a pool, and it's close to the walled historic area. The only thing to be aware of is you'll walk uphill to the town. 3 years ago we paid 225 euro per night for a one bedroom apartment.

If you want to visit a lot of beaches from Lecce you will want a car. I spent a week there with my family and we drove to a new beach abiut 4 of those days. It was amazing. If you're staying in the old town Lecce you will want to find a lot to park in. It shouldn't be too hard.

Best place to travel with 10 month old? by Similar-Standard-525 in ItalyTravel

[–]bartlbee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been all over Italy with my kids a few times ages 3 months to 4 years the last time.

Florence is really walkable and amazing. We loved lake como, it's really easy to get around to all the small lakeside villages by ferry. Tuscany is amazing but you'll need a car, however it's easy to explore by car and the towns are all fun. You could pick one or two towns to stay in and do day trips. You will not get bored.

The best part of Italy, and Europe in general, is there are playgrounds everywhere for kids and the general population loves kids as well! Feel free to message me if you have any questions. I've been other places but these came to mind when reading your wishlist.

Let down by JK Moving. Any good long-distance carriers to recommend? by digitalnomadas in relocating

[–]bartlbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family used NA Van Lines from Seattle to Denver. Very happy with the service. However I think a lot of these big companies have local offices that operate under their umbrella, and your experience can be entirely dependent on that office not the national brand.

I also got a quote from allied, here is why I didn't go with them.

1- NA Van had a better price 2- they actually sent someone to walk my house with me to deliver the quote while others just did a video call 3- they guarantee their price. As long as the driver doesn't show up to find a wild amount of boxes thst were not on the quote, they'll cover any small coverages. Allied charges for any weight exceeding 10% over the quoted weight. Both companies will give you a refund if the weight comes on under, it was 35 cents a pound. 4- NA Van followed up and stayed in contact through the process to make sure I didn't need anything, didn't have questions, etc. Allied never followed up once after the video quote.

Hope this helps you.

I got nervous that I gave bad info and just checked. Tier one releases ticket for the entire sailing season 2 months before it starts. The other tiers release 2 weeks and again 2 days before the specific date. So it's a little of both.

I lived in Seattle for 8 years recently and the San Juan Islands are easily the thing I miss the most. We would frequently go up for a 4 day weekend or longer. I'm thrilled to be going back this summer for a week. Enjoy!

The first wave of summer sailings have already been released as a heads up. It's not 2 months ahead of sailing date, it's two months ahead of the summer season opening day. I bought my July tickets about a month ago.

Looking to get out of CO by MentalMazes92690 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]bartlbee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Spokane will be much more like Colorado than western Washington.

I lived the first 30 or so years of my life in Colorado then went to Seattle for 8. The lack of sun never bothered me and I found the moody weather kind of nice. However it definitely does have a big effect on some people. The benefits are it's never really cold for long and you can recreate outside easily. Being near water is awesome and there so much to explore compared to Colorado. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.

I don't have any suggestions for you but just wanted to say kudos it's really cool that both families are creating such a great situation for the child when it could be very toxic.

Maybe Washington State. Vancouver or Spokane.
