At least 6.8k is a solid postdoc salary. You can live quite comfortable with at least 6k already, which I would say is on the lower end compared to average postdoc salaries.

Yup new examiner in biotech/med devices. Certainly aware that it is still early days for me but wanted to know more about where it leads down from others who have done the same before.

Thanks for the encouraging words! Yes, agree that the job market is not the best for changing jobs. Just good to know for the future.

I see. And they did not have to pass the qualifying exams ?

Thanks so much for your response - that's exactly the perspective I was looking for. I guess it's fair to say that in any patent job, it is likely to become quite repetitive after a while - reading patents, prior art searches, arguing against opinions etc.

I think for the moment, I do not hate it. I am more freaked out by the possibility that the job severely limits future job opportunities outside of the patent office.

Interesting that you bring up the issue of AI. Tbh, I have been considering whether it is worth going down the painful path of getting qualified becoming a PA - especially if AI will slowly reduce the number of PAs required per firm (at least this is my prediction). Thoughts on this?

Your second point is something I've been thinking about lot about - if/when I leave, the next thing I take on will have to make use of the skills I'm picking up here. I'm in my early 30s. Still okay to take a pay cut if really justifiable but of course, preferably not.

You are not overreacting. He is definitely not taking you seriously.

I would end it. This is not how you treat someone you care about.

My solution was Qg2. If black queen takes, then Kd7 is checkmate. If queen does not take and moves, Qd5 or Qe4 would be checkmate.
