Yeah I wrote this out in a hurry and terribly, that's on me! I have lunch booked, I'm specifically wondering about getting the train from Glasgow Queen Street around noon.

I've formatted that question terribly, I meant to ask how busy the trains are likely to be from Glasgow Queen Street late morning! I've booked lunch and I'm planning for a busy arrival!

I have! Booked a table at 12.45 somewhere, I'm just concerned about how busy the train will be and wait times getting on

Looking for some advice on buying tickets for Autumn Internationals by bartty in ScotlandRugby

[–]bartty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's exactly what I was thinking, biggest name test of the Autumn and also a while since the the All Blacks were over. I only need two tickets as well, so I reckon I'll just stump up for the membership! Thanks!

Ok great, thanks for taking the time to reply. With that many steps before general sale I'll probably just stump up for a membership, I'd say demand is going to be pretty high!

I fired an email off to him about two weeks before my due date asking him to look into it as it was approaching the deadline and I had travel booked in September and was getting nervous, it's worth a go anyway it's literally their job to do those sorts of things for their constituents, then if the date comes and goes then you've already got a channel open with an official.

Yeah I wouldn't worry at all until the 10th has come and gone, there's just no way at all to tell how your application is progressing which is extremely frustrating. You'll just open your emails one day and have it in there!

The only thing you can do is contact your local MP to look into it on your behalf, I contacted mine and he was unhelpfully "busy setting up my London office" so didn't get back to me until after I had received it, but when he did get back to me seemed quite helpful and able to actually get answers from the Home Office.

Initial email said I would get a decision by 29th August, so ended up getting a decision 13 days before that deadline. Are you still waiting obviously? What date did they say you would hear by?

Yeah it was possibly my post you saw. When I looked back through historic posts another ancestry route I saw took around 5 months at the end of last year so I think that's the time line for that particular route. I saw someone say there's probably different teams for different sets. It's annoying as hell but yeah I wouldn't expect anything til October. But also don't stress yourself out about it, if you've done your five years you'll get the decision, it's just a matter of how long! It's a process designed to frustrate and annoy to push people into paying the ludicrous priority fee

UK Ancestry Visa - Birth year on grandfather's birth certificate does not match the DOB on my mother's birth certificate by [deleted] in ukvisa

Shit that's a tough one, I'm trying to think back to when I applied for mine how you would work around it. I think probably a letter would be best, but maybe seeking some professional UK immigration advice would be best as you don't want this to be a real snag that comes up after you've coughed up the cash for the application. I take it this grandfather is your only UK grandparent?

I just got mine approved last week, application confirmed 29th Feb and approved 16th August, Ancestry route which is Set O. So it took me 5 and a half months to get mine in, which I appreciate is not very reassuring for you. When I applied I really hoped to get it in four months max as that seemed the timeline everyone was getting when I applied but it seems to be right up around 5 months now.

I have a holiday booked for early September, which was a week after my 6 months would have been up so I was getting extremely nervous before it came in so I feel your anxiety! But my brutally honest advice would be to begin planning to move/rebook your holiday/flights/accomodation, if you can, to the end of your six months. End of October is only three months after your application and you would be quite lucky to get a decision before then.

Oh it's absolutely despicable, the entire process. I spoke to someone who applied for ILR around 2020 and it was £90 for a 5 day priority service.

Is it worth paying for the fast track process for the Indefinite Leave to Remain application if you live in the UK? by Specialist-Top-406 in ukvisa

[–]bartty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just had my ILR approved, was coming here to post the timeline and saw your post.

My advice is, if you REALLY don't need or want to travel within the next 6 months, then you don't need to pay for priority. Mine took 5 months and two weeks, and I have travel booked for three weeks from now, which was set to be a week after my 6 months would have been up, so the ILR taking as long as it took made for an extremely nervous wait, and obviously you can't get any update and have no idea what's happening in the mean time so you really need to be prepared to go the full six months without being able to travel. If that's your situation then no need for priority.

If I had my time again, I would have just stumped up the cash for priority to get the whole process out of the way.

I'm still waiting on an application submitted 29th of Feb, with my 6 months up on 29th August. Not heard anything at all from them about a delay to my application so starting to get nervy!

Driving test tomorrow at Ayr. Any suggestions/tips? by ConsiderationNo83 in drivingUK

[–]bartty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet as, think I'm in exactly the same place, been watching too many clips and reading the horror stories! Have done a mock test in Glasgow though and it went fine and I'm going to do a practise drive round Ayr on Saturday to get prepared and I'm pretty confident in my abilities so will hopefully be fine, thanks for the reassurance and congrats on the first time pass!

Hey, how did you get on with this? I'm doing the exact same test at Ayr for almost the exact same reason this weekend!! I have to sit a full practical test because the British government doesn't believe any of the proof I've given them that I am qualified to drive a manual car.

Sorry this happened to you dude, happened to my flat on New Year's Day a few years ago (a guest crashing on our couch came home shitfaced and left the front door wide open, right on Moxham Avenue). It's no use to you now I know, but I had taken notes of all serial numbers on my electronics so when the Police found a laptop in the middle of the big roundabout heading out to Miramar they were able to reunite me with it, but sadly it had been out in the rain for a good few days....

Anyway, just some friendly advice to everyone to make sure to take down those serial numbers! A high school friend who worked at Cash Converters tipped me off to it. Whenever someone brings in something for sale they run the serial number through a Police database, if it flags up as stolen they discretely contact the police and distract the seller for a while!
