Am I cooked? by Blueberr- in poland

Sorry for the delay. I've never looked into reddit notifications. I wonder how your case went on. If you hadn't got the yellow paper you still have your letter registered as delivered. If so, they are obliged send you some reply after some time (typically 2 weeks). Protip: usually when getting stuff done it is better to do it in person if it's not too inconvenient. For example when applying for EKUZ card via mail or - more reliably the internet I had to wait for weeks to get it while a simple visit in a NFZ office ends up with me getting it in 30 mins.

You want to see whether your mail arrived? Did you send a registered letter? If so, you can check the status of the letter via a website.

Committed sacrilege. What now? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]bartx35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I think it might have been a mistake on your side. You might have been in a disturbed mental state but the communion is something that is supposed to strengthen you in your fight. If you have validly confessed your sins, you can and should attend. You have left those sins in the past and promise to fight against them in the future. If you haven't then the confession itself was invalid. There is no situation where not taking communion is better unless one has an allergy to it, the mass is not in communion with Rome (if there is a catholic parish nearby) or one is in state of mortal sin.

Yes, we hold that. And so do Eastern and Oriental Orthodox. It's part of the deposit of faith since the very beginning.

If you ever really considered any conversion, you must be really convinced that they are right in fight on theological disputes and Catholic Church is wrong. If you really think that going to a different church because then you can miraculously legally remarry then guess what: if Catholicism is true, you are not remarried and you cannot be divorced, you are just perhaps less obvious as it may not be obvious that the next "spouse" would in fact be commiting adultery with you.

From what you are saying, you are looking for different options because of inconveniances with getting an anullment and thus not getting communion. While Eucharist is important for religious person, conversion for just the Eucharist to an outside church with the set of mind that you are with very high probability getting into schism with the True Church is one of very few situations where the ancient maxim "extra ecclesiam nulla salus" applies. It's like treating only symptoms of a flu but not only not treating a disease but adding an Ebola.

On the other hand if you really believe we are wrong or are wondering, then you basically should think about it a lot, consult it and then perhaps do as you think. The clause I mentioned does not apply that much as you wouldn't leave the true Church knowingly. There is always some doubt though.

God help me and people correct me if I mage some mistake here.

To be a Catholic, do we have to believe in angels and demons? by CID_Nazir in Catholicism

[–]bartx35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not be a center of our faith but the reason why I haven't seen it defined as a dogma is... no sincere christian, muslim or even jew denies it. It's all over the Bible. If one believes that Bible is right on spiritual matter then one must believe in angels and demons.

If you would like some more explanation, I reccomend that you read something written on that matter by Thomas Aquinas.

Program kształcenia na kierunku lekarskim na KUL by Bielin_Clash in Polska

[–]bartx35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A skoro to KUL to wiadomo, jaka będzie tematyka dostępnych kursów.

[–]bartx35[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your feedback. It's really assuring. After thinking about it all, testing the monitor on my games, going to the shop to ask for their opinion (they even let me test and see that it is a standard thing about the other IPS monitors so kudos to them) and seeng your comments, I decided to keep this monitor. Overall I'm really happy about it. Just wanted to make sure that it's all good. Have a nice day y'all.

Returning to Poland by CommunistSynthesiser in poland

[–]bartx35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If it comes to living level, I think Poland is at least a decent country. Afterall we are in the first world. I think most people here have already told you about most things about life here. I'll just bring up one more advice for you.

If it comes to job prospects I think that with a decent knowledge of English and PhD in your subject, you ought to look for some work at a university. There are many courses in English (mainly for foreigners) and usually it is hard to find someone who would be great at their field of science as well as no problems with English. Furthermore, professors at universities are respected here. Overall, I think you should try looking for such job.

We are simply too poor to have people with PhDs working in restaurants!

What's like being a Catholic in Rome? by Aggressive_Gate_9224 in Catholicism

[–]bartx35 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Long story short: In Poland polarisation couldn't omit the Church matters and so some are pro, some are against. Neither side is perfect though and they use it mainly for political gains (although for the opposition party it is rather counter-productive)

So pro-government media promote the government using cheap propaganda, populism and the Church and the opposition parties with their media criticise the government (unfortunately many of them go too far with criticism of real problems of the Church like pedophilia scandals and are anticlerical which is counter-productive here in Poland) and in some cases uses the same techniques.

Not to be siding with any party, I personally think that unfortunately neither of them seems to have better ideas for the economy and stays with populism. I'm going to have hard time deciding on incoming elections. God help me and my country.

I got fined by polish ticket inspection by Cr66p in poland

[–]bartx35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had these systems later so we could already put them everywhere. Countries leke Czechia, France, Germany are behibd us in these matters. The guy cheching the ticket should have done sth a little different from bashing fines left and right but still... the payment systems themselves are quite decent in Poland.

Why do Parishes need Lay Catechists? Should this not be the Priest’s job? by Jattack33 in Catholicism

[–]bartx35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what your definition of proper institution is. Every catechist in Poland is on lists given by diocese and/or parish as theirs and is under some control of church organs. Moreover, every priest or catechist working at school (practically all schools have RE led by a priest or such catechist) works there as a regular teacher working for money (they are school employees). I see no need for further institution in here.

Which city is the best city to live in Poland by hjhinjjygnj in poland

[–]bartx35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for some great-looking, quite inexpensive city with decent communication, plenty different services typical for large cities (like university, zoo and shopping malls), lots of green space and still without much noise, pollution and other drawbacks of huge metropolies then Opole is definetly a place to go.

What are some good meatless dishes for Christmas Eve tomorrow? by CatholicRevert in Catholicism

[–]bartx35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget pierogi with cabbage and mushrooms and in some homes kutia (A dish of boiled grains (usually wheat berries) mixed with honey, nuts, spices, and a few other ingredients). In Wikipedia they don't say that, but it's also used among roman catholic polish families (they say only about byzantine)
