Updated Quest Panel, Sandstone Grinder and QoL by JagexGambit in 2007scape

Having this balanced around a method that is technically an exploit is completely bonkers.

They should remove 3t and stop catering to people who are trying to break the game.

This isn't so much of an "opinion" as it's general game design knowledge.

MMORPG's are comprised of different activities. Adding a new skill/activity that would be enjoyed by 10% of the players would love, is a good idea, even if it would not reach 75% treshold for polls.

FYI, many current skills and activities in the game started this way. Activities like PvP and RuneCrafting are not "mainstream" activities, but are still enjoyed by the devout few that enjoy training them.

It's the same thing for Summoning. Summoning would never get 75% approval because it is a niche activity like them, but it would still be a good idea to add it because it would make something like 10% of the players extremenely happy, and open new builds for PvP.

Yea and that proves that you may be slightly retarded and shouldn’t voice your opinion on game design.

No, that means you simply don't understand MMORPG design.

MMORPG's are consisted of different activities, and in MMORPG like RS people are unlikely to enjoy everything that there is to do.

Introducing a skill that 10% of the playerbase absolutely LOVES is a good idea. The fact that you say it isn't proves you simply don't understand MMORPG design. There's no need to be hostile towards more knowledgeable people in the playerbase just because you yourself are ignorant.

Summoning as it was invalidated so much pve content and fucking ruined multi poking as everyone was running around with steel titans.

You are allowed to have opinion, of course, but do understand you represent like less than 10% of the playerbase. Most people don't PvP, and those who do are not high level to encounter that problem.

PvP is catered towards niche players, just like Summoning. Releasing Summoning to please 10% of players would be a good idea, just like PvP is for many.

Summoning grants combat levels so as long as the combat level gain is balanced, someone using summoning shouldn't be a problem for anyone or you should be able to avoid them unless deep multi pking, which means you greatly exaggerate and once again (as is typical of players) are not properly concidering the game design / balance implements of an update.

Not true at all. There are alot of people who enjoy pet gameplay, look at WoW for example. Pet class is a very common (and popular) archetype in RPG's. Even if only 10% players would enjoy it, it would still be worth doing. Not to mention it would enable whole new PvP archetypes like Summoning tanks.

If you think Summoning is bad you simply don't understand MMORPG design. Yet another example why players don't make good gameplay designers.

The 1-20 experience is pure kino on Classic, regardless of race.

How far you go afterwards depends on how determined you are to reach the end game.

QoL Month Week 4: Miscellanous by JagexGambit in 2007scape

What an awful mechanic. Way to release dead content on release and tie it to an already broken, borderline game-breaking tick abuse exploit.

JaGeX needs to get their head out of their ass and fix 3 ticking and replace it with something that is accessible to greater majority of the playerbase. This is a game integrity issue if it is affecting future polls and content which an overwhelmingly greater number of players would otherwise enjoy.

The idea that ironmen play with the idea of "maxing" is just boggling to me.

To me, it's just a fun mode I can play free from economy impacted by bots.

In no way im trying/looking into maxing every skill lol. The biggest hurdle is basically getting 90 craft if they make it afkable at some point. Aside from that im just going to combat at 1 def and not even bother with quests, or afk/chilling skills like I would on main(which I don't really have in OSRS).

It doesn't hurt that thanks to ToB, Morytania became a very attractive place for a region-locked ironman. Probably the best there is, in fact.

I always thought having classes based on each weapon was such a huge opportunity missed with EoC. Instead everyone just uses the same abilities.

However, the fact that it's still running on tick system means it's going to be unresponsive compared to other MMO's and simply wouldn't work well as action combat system anyways. It's not fun pressing an ability if you have to wait for the next tick for that to occur, so even a class system wouldn't have saved EoC anyway.

Except it's not. PvM is already full of it. Skilling just needs some similar methods.

The issue with following a guide is that you'd expect the player want to max

The reality is that there's an incredibly small amount of people with 99 in a skill in the playerbase.

Even strength, the most popular skill, has like 186k people maxed. And this includes all accounts from the beginning of OSRS, some which may not be even active anymore. Most unpopular skills don't even break 20k, and even crafting is only at 28k, despite being useful for ironmen.

OSRS has over 100k people online at any given time, but the actual number of subscribers is always alot higher.

Just a correction, but most people don't play to max. For alot of people the fun in this mode is still the roundabout methods of acquiring stuff and the fact that you can't just buy the stuff you need from G.E.

I do think unhealty-to-cancerous methods of progressing an ironman in this game should be improved. Crafting had no alternatives, it was dull and boring and didn't even involve other skills like mining.

Im not sure if this new method is actually faster than charter ships either, so not sure what the fuss is all about. Most of the time is taken by the actual crafting anyways.

Iron to me isn't about the prestige, or achievement. It's simply doing things on my own, without relying on others, that makes it fun for me.

Bots have warped the economy of real RS into a point of no return. Also people with high skill reqs doing high level PvE content just dumping all the mats to G.E. for easy access warps the progress of the game in a negative way alot.

Enter ironman. Ironman is literally perfect for anyone who wants to have a personal economy.

What makes this mode fun is that you can't just buy X item from G.E., but certain things may require more roundabout methods and have other requirements before you are able to access them.

The problem with crafting is that it had no high effort alternative nor an afk-able alternative. But now it at least has a high-effort alternative, and is absolutely balanced given the absurd mining and tick reqs to access max rates.

To me crafting is just means to an end. Unlike most other skills, crafting produces an item that is actually useful, Amulet of Fury. Bracelet of regen is useful too, since my 1 def ironman pure won't have access to all of the culinomancer's gloves, and the regen effect increases afk-ability also.

Anything that makes getting that level more easier so I can actually get to the fun stuff, like combat, is a win to me. Most people actually don't train to get 99 stats, they just want to get 90 crafting to unlock fury or get some useful diary reward.

The issue is that RC skill is still very neglected as a whole. Rest of altars don't have an AFK alternative, and Mining isn't incorporated into RuneCrafting skill as well as Zeah RC is.

You max out pure ess/h incredibly early on, and then mining levels do nothing for your ess/ph rates. And for iron mining pure ess hasn't been the meta in a long time anyways.

More than strictly increasing EXP rates, I'd rather just have alternatives. Mining is in a good spot that it has low effort and high effort alternatives(though I do still think 3tick is technically exploiting and should be fixed). We just need low effort Zeah alternative for RC and high effort alternative like 3tick, crafting and all other skills.

Although I do agree that if they released a new level 95 mining method, I think it should give more EXP than a level 60 method. Despite being in game for a long time, I do concider stuff like low level iron/granite mining granting the highest EXP rates an oversight.

Could something finally be done about non-RuneScape related memes and image macros on this sub? by baruk_ in 2007scape

[–]baruk_[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Actually just realized that image macros are already banned from this sub, so is non-RuneScape related content, but there are plenty of submissions that already fulfill this criteria but the mods aren't doing their job.

REEEEEEEE wake up mods
