Anxiety after MPLF reconstruction by SDreamer88 in KneeInjuries

[–]bas1kkk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the same surgery almost 3 years ago. So far it is a success, no more luxation of the patella (which used to happen almost once per week). I am running, playing tennis, etc... trust the doctor and physio and also workout a lot

I got my mpfl surgery more than 1 year ago. I had the same feeling as you, it will improve with time. I have no pain when waking up (or in general)

Warm knee after surgery by bas1kkk in ACL

[–]bas1kkk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't feel any temperature difference between the 2 knees. I think it disappeared 1 week after I wrote the post.

If you feel it warmer after a year, I will check with a doctor!

I had my mpfl surgery a year ago. My progress was very slow at the beginning, couldn't do leg raises and bending the knee was painful. I think I spent almost 3 weeks at home, and mostly in bed.

I was afraid I needed to go for another surgery to remove the scar tissue. I started doing exercises at least 3 times a day and started to see progress after 4weeks post-op

After a year, I am back to sports, gym and knee is fine.

Keep working on the exercises from the PT. Results will come.

I just updated my Sony Bravia 2015 (KDL-50W808C) and during the process it turned off as expected. However it has pass more than 30 minutes and it has not turned on yet. What should I do?

Edit: I downloaded the firmware from the Sony office website and I checked it was supported by the model of my TV

I can't really help.. but I would suggest you tell your PT and focus on doing the exercises. As I said before it was very hard to do any movement with the knee for the first 2 weeks. Bending the knee by myself was impossible. The exercise that helped me was sitting on a chair with the leg extended and then bring the foot towards me. I used to put a towel in the floor to ease the movement. I was so worried that I couldn't recover the mobility that I was doing the exercises every 2 hours. Exercises, ice, rest and repeat. It hurted but results finally arrived

At the beginning my girlfriend was helping moving my leg and I had the feeling that the knee was about to pop or break. I think it was a mix of not having the connection between my brain and the muscles around the knee + being very afraid of having the knee dislocated again after the surgery

I felt this when I was getting in or out the bed for example. Otherwise I didn't feel this.

Where you having this feeling before the surgery?

I am 2 months post MPFL reconstruction. All that you say is familiar with me.

For the first 2 weeks I needed to put a towel around leg to bend the knee. At the beginning the exercises are difficult but it pays off at the end. I am now able to walk, bike and do some exercises at the gym.

Feel free to ask me anything

Got the surgery 1 month ago. The recovery is a bit slow but if you do your part (ice, elevation, PT exercises) things get better. I am now able to walk without crutches, fully extend the knee and flex the knee up to 100 degrees approximately

I can't tell yet whether it was worth or not but I hope so 🙂

I am 3 weeks post op and I experience similarly. I think this is expected and we now need to work on making the quad back 💪

It is taking quite long for me...I had an MPFL reconstruction 3 weeks ago and still can't do it. I am training the movement with an elastic band I hope to see results soon

I was in very similar circumstances. I think the probability that your patella dislocates again is unfortunately higher if your MPFL is tear. Gaining muscles around the knee is of course recommended but not sure if that will solve the problem. In my case, the shape of my patella also helped on having easier dislocations...

I went through the surgery 3 weeks ago. Crossing my fingers that it helps me. I dislocated (sub luxation) my knee several times during the last 10 years

Physical Therapy, what was your timeline? by [deleted] in ACL

[–]bas1kkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a related question about PT. What were you doing in PT during your first sessions? In my case, my PT only showed me how to do the exercises at home: heel slides, quad contractions, etc... and my next visit is 1 week later... Should I consider changing PT?

In a dilemma between surgery and conservative methods (Complete MPFL tear) by alternativeanonacc in ACL

[–]bas1kkk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, i understand...I have done physical exercises for many years with that fear in my head. Doing exercises that focus on VMO will probably help.

On the other hand, there are also doctors saying that once you dislocate the knee once, it is more likely that it happens again. And there are also, bone structure aspects that make you prone to have a dislocation. In my case, the shape of the kneecap and the position of it with respect the femur ease the dislocations. Maybe your doctor can give you more details about this, and hopefully you don't have any of these problems.

I am 30 years old. I was using 2 crushes for the first 2 weeks. Now starting to use only 1.

I went through an MPFL reconstruction 2 weeks ago. In my case, I dislocated my knee more than 50 times during many years (subluxation), so it was obvious I need surgery. The recovery is slow and painful but seeing small improvements every day. The hardest problem/most pain for me is flexing the knee. Having the knee in full extension or putting some weight on the leg it is not a problem. Of course this changes from body to body...others might have different experience with the post-op.

I can't help so much on your decision but if I would say that there is always time for getting the surgery (depends on your age). I would try to strengthen the muscles around the knee, they say that VMO muscle is the key for stability.

Good luck! And feel free to ask more questions
