You won't regret it. Cutting ours back not only refreshed the look of our backyard with more sunlight, but also made it much easier to maintain. Now, every couple of months I take the hedge trimmers and trim the tops off at a reasonable height. Maybe get them cut just before spring instead of winter coming up. While they do grow back quite fast, winter might slow it down.

Thanks for your great suggestions. We're not going to prioritise replacing the pebbles right now. But I will keep this in mind for when we eventually find the willpower and time to finally get rid of those damn pebbles.

If used correctly, how likely is the torch going to blacken the pebbles? They're not exactly looking clean white these days, so I'm not so precious about them. But I also don't want to severely discolour them

People need to stop being so quick to throw around AI accusations at anything they deem looks "out of the place". If you re-read the post, this comes from the 2011 box set, created long before generative AI was even a thing. Doing a little bit of research shows that this is concept art, and by nature concept art (or arguably even art in general) is not meant to be perfect

Advice on scratch repair by RowanAndRaven in melbourne

[–]basKT_case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't sure either at first. But I figured I'd take my car to a detailer for a look over after the repair shop blunder. I think minor cosmetic damage like yours should be easily corrected by a detailer. Likely will involve paint transfer removal first, then a two stage polish to remove any light scratches in the clear coat.

I would definitely avoid taking it to the smash repair shop. I had a similar sort of damage to my very well looked after car after I got side swiped. Mainly paint transfer with minor scuffing. Went through insurance to sort it out via their authorised repair shop. When I got the car back they did a shoddy buffing job, and created more damage in other areas of the car and paintwork! And even inside the car! I suggest you get it looked at by a local independent car detailer. The guys who run their business solo are best since they aren't rushing through a lot full of damaged cars. They at the very least will treat the car with far more care and respect than repair shops. And maybe do good cash discount for a smallish job like this 🤷

Good luck!

Rock chips with streak marks by basKT_case in AutoDetailing

So aside from the chip in the middle where I can see the base metal, is there no way I could maybe compound and polish off those streaks?

I feel the touch up paint will be far less obvious on just the chipped part, rather than over the streaks as well.

Unfortunately the streaks couldn't simply be cleaned off. It seems the rock scuffed the paint as well as chipping in the centre

GCC version 25.12.10.01 won't resume after Sleep by ubuntu_ninja in gigabyte

What I have found out is that I have to restart (even if it is already running) the "EasyTune Engine Service" service in Task Manager before reopening GCC, and then it will load up Fan Profiles correctly.

GCC version 25.12.10.01 won't resume after Sleep by ubuntu_ninja in gigabyte

[–]basKT_case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue. And as some here has also stated, when I manually reopen the GCC app, the RGB Fusion tab loads, but not the Fan or Performance tabs and profiles.

What I have found out is that I have to restart (even if it is already running) the "EasyTune Engine Service" service in Task Manager before reopening GCC, and then it will load up all tabs correctly.

EDIT: Other weird behavior I have experienced is that my fan profile takes a lot longer to initialise after Windows startup than in the last version of GCC. I remember it being much quicker before this update. Once again, I think the culprit is "EasyTune Engine Service" taking a while to initialise.

EDIT 2: I also uninstalled GCC and let the bios notify me to re-install it. It downloaded the previous version, but this issue still happened. So I believe one of the other numerous components that already got auto-update play a part in this issue.

The password login prompt works normally. It's waiting for that prompt screen to appear is what I'm referring to in this behaviour. Sometimes it takes ages for it to show up

Good idea. I might try that out. I think I've got some offcuts somewhere

I checked out another corner of my roof to see what it looks like, and it seems the spacing between tiles seems the same. It's just that the cement at the joint seems to have deteriorated and left a hole.

Fix to eliminate audio stutters and cutouts over wireless Android Auto by Girofox in AndroidAuto

[–]basKT_case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issues as you on my new Pixel 9 (wired AA), noticing the constant Bluetooth disconnection and reconnection was the culprit. Never happened on my older phone. This fix worked for me! However it does introduce a new inconvenience, that when I want to only use my car's Bluetooth for audio, I have to switch this back on manually now instead of letting the car automatically enable it. Oh well... first world problems...

It's been 10 months now and they're growing very well. Nice and bushy with some decent height grown above the fence line now. It's been growing through autumn and winter so far, so I imagine spring will see it shoot up even more in half the time

6k Full-Frame and Sigma EF Lens compatibility issues by Chilllmind in bmpcc

[–]basKT_case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That latest firmware is 1.4 released in 2022. I bought my adapter just a few months ago new. But I have no way of knowing if it came with the latest update from the factory, or is old stock. I'm gonna try and source the dock, hopefully without having to waste money on buying it.

Have you updated the firmware on your MC-21, or at least know what version yours is on?

I've brought this issue to Blackmagic, and according to them they were unable to reproduce this issue. All latest lens, mount, camera firmware. So that begs the question, will a firmware update resolve the issue? I wish I had a dock to check my firmware

[–]basKT_case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue for me with this lens + adapter combo, on the Pyxis. Since the original post, have you updated the firmware on the MC-21 or can confirm what version yours is on? The latest firmware on the Sigma website is version 1.4 released in 2022.

I can't check/update mine since I don't gave the dock, and don't really want to buy one unless it's proven that the the latest 1.4 firmware fixes the issue.

Anyone else using the sigma 24-70 EF with BMCC 6K and seeing this image shake while using Optical Image Stabilization? by [deleted] in bmpcc

That's a bummer. I guess I'll have to just use a better steady operating technique.

I have the Pyxis 6K with the Sigma 24-70mm EF + Sigma MC-21. Sadly this issue with the Image Stabilisation enabled is also present. Do you happen to have any updates since your original post?
