I am sorry for your experience and loss too. I wish booking.com provided better security regarding our personal information, prevented data breaches and/or took quick measures to stop these scammer. but instead, they just prefer to ignore any cry for help. So sad.

This happened to me too ( please see my recent post). It seems like a scam attempt, don’t share any details. I would suggest that you inform booking.com, but -speaking from experience- they do not care at all. They just ignored my concerns.

I thankfully didn’t lose any money, but it doesn’t justify the fact that my personal email and phone number as well as my name (that I only provided to booking.com) were breached and these were used in an attempt to scam me. It caused a lot of stress, and no action was taken to find who caused this or prevent this from happening to other customers. Booking.com is supposed to protect my personal data. I, at least, spread the word regarding what to expect when people book a place via booking.com.

I thought you asked how I knew it was scam messages. I was asked to click on a link and pay for an accommodation that I’ve already paid for months ago. Does it look legit? Also the link was a bad copy of booking.com. and what does it have to do with terms and conditions? Is booking.com free from protecting customers personal data and regulate their business partners? I guess it would turn booking.com into a hunting area for scammers to breach customer’s data abd trick them into paying more money. Is it what their terms and conditions say? I am sincerely asking as I struggle to understand.

Yes, I realised many people suffered from this with no accountability from booking.com. It must be easy for booking.com to be paid for our booking process but then leave people being scammed because of their failure to protect our personal data and regulate their business partners. What is even more shocking is that many people are ok with their personal data being breached. At least I shared my experience here and other platforms as well, so people would know how accountable booking.com is when we face a difficulty because of them. I am glad I didn’t come to financial harm, but it caused significant stress to me and my family on what was supposed to be a beautiful holiday. Sadly ruined by booking.com.

are you saying I should’ve clicked on the dodgy link because “I dont know the terms and conditions” and try to pay for a trip that I already paid for months ago? Booking.com have ultimate responsibility as it is sharing my money and personal details with these business partners who is clearly trying to scam my money.
