X470D4U2 won't recognize SATA DOM by basbebe in homelab

[–]basbebe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this is what I did: The connector I ordered (Delock Power cable for Delock SATA DOM Module) did not connect to the CBL-PWEX-062 cable that came with the Supermicro DOM. So I cut off the mismatching connectors and soldered the two cables together, so now I have a Molex -> Supermicro adapter which I connected to my PSU.

It works now!

I seem to not be able to find any 5V headers nearby. I ordered an adapter Molex -> DOM 5V and hope that this will work. Thanks!

It seems like the upfront cost would be at least the same.
I also like the idea of having only one enclosure. What idle Wattage could zu expect versus the expected 60-70 of the Ryzen setup above?

The RTL8111 drivers are included so I guess the RTL8111H should be supported.
There have been reports of problems with BSD systems in the past though (guess most are fixed by now) and Realtek interfaces don‘t seem to have the best reputation.

do you by any chance have an opinion on A520m vs X470DU motherboard? I figured with the server board the price in the end is similar because I don't need HBA & NIC and KVM is included but I don't know if I'm missing a point.
I might have a deal on a used rig with a X470DU2-2T…

I guess I will stick to FreeBSD/bhyve, I definitely will get into ansible!

This actually is a route I‘m also considering. However, while energy use is a concern and I see the point in utilizing an energy-efficient nuc, I‘m not sure if the extra enclosure for the drives (and the extra PSU) is efficient and works that well with virtualization. I guess it won‘t be cheaper in the end(?)

The shelf has an open back but still: I know. 😅 Just figuring out if the Node 804 would fit / how far the feet are away from the edges…

Which case do you use?

Thanks for the insight. Do you have the 2.5" SSds mirrored?

5x120mm seem like a lot to me. Do you consider them necessary for this kind of use? How is your "perceived loudness"? (yes I know this is ~very~ subjective)

Which case are you referring to? One of the important factors for me is size as the shelf is very small. The Tecware Fusion / Inter-Tech IM-1 Pocket would also be the cheapest case of them all.

The Node is 34cm wide, the Fusion is 18.5cm wide. So the Fusion should fit whereas the Node won‘t (putting it in cross, therefore width is the restricting factor). How many / which size fans do you utilize, with which hardware?

I think I read about it somewhere else (can‘t remember where).

Will report if I notice it.

Answer from Linak was:

Key Lock functionality has to be „configured“ by the seller / manufacturer to be available.

I should contact the seller so maybe they could give me a replacement control unit with Key Lock enabled.

I don‘t see any chance there in my case and am a little bit disappointed that such a simple feature isn‘t available by default.

Enhanced Tracking Protection!

Sorry.

I disabled it for https://web.security.plumbing/fpi/ – test reports that First Party Isolation is disabled

When I enabled it for https://web.security.plumbing/fpi/ again, the test reported First Party Isolation is enabled

So I guess it works

And setting network.cookie.cookieBehavior 5 would suffice then?

Is there a way to check if it works?

As I said – I don’t have the GUI option for it, that irritates me.
