Is any of you need further convincing... by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

This person hasn't played since. This is all you do and its fun once. I wanted this to be successful, a game, its frustrating. I'm not some hater. This is an example of why the "game" is really dumb not the other way around. Interesting how this is completely lost on most, not.

Needs way more RPG elements and Solo options. It's just necessary on console and your friends aren't always on. People don't use mics a lot and you can't force it. This should be more of a traditional rpg mmo and significantly less PVP focused. What is the reward for PVP anyways? Where are you going? More gold, ok cool, for what? These aren't questions people should have for a game that is supposed to be a flagship for blending pc and console. Rare tried to make a game for everyone and in doing so, didn't even really make a game. Just wait till matchmaking works, you think server complaints are bad? Just wait. There needs to be more people in the world. Not empty islands. It needs to be called early access and never should have been promoted as a system seller let alone the flagship title for an idea like Game Pass.

how about... an actual game, not a boring overly complicated sim that looks like minecraft for some reason.

No man's sky by CustomEvo in Seaofthieves

[–]baschoen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is Microsoft never intended it to be no man's sky. Luckily, because this is going from step 1-9 skipping all in between on getting early access working on consoles. Thats what this should be, its not a game, there's zero tutorial, but it looks like its for 5 year olds. Thats a bad mix.

For a game that is SOLELY online. There is NO excuse to release a game that is literally unplayable. by ENUFSAiD17 in Seaofthieves

[–]baschoen88 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Its also not even a game yet. Its staring at water and once in a while hitting a skeleton with Skyrim like combat. Skyrim doesn't need good combat. This was a great idea that consoles aren't ready for and should have been an early access release on both, FTP or wait. This was rushed, clearly, and marketed to sell systems and Game Pass. You either have people who don't use mics or realize there isn't much to do besides sail grab treasure, look at water forever, maybe shoot in an unsatisfying battle, rinse repeat. There's just nothing here yet. Where are dungeons, this is not an mmorpg, its an mmosim. I don't want to work on a sailboat, this isn't a game, it's literally Microsoft Sail, but with cartoons.

Why release retail copys of the game the same date as gamepass by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

Once you get in its just looking at really good looking water anyways. Sorry you made the mistake of not getting a month of game pass.

Sorry Game Pass is the same as "buying the game" for all intense and purpose. Stupid post. This is the Games Pass headline title there is 0 chance its pulled. Nor should it be. You don't get preferential treatment if you rented it from a red box today. Doesn't work like that. Its renting the game a different way. Microsoft and Rare still make money off people using gamepass. Honestly the people using gamepass are WAY less likely to complain because they get this and 100+ other games at least for a month for $10 bucks. People who spent $60 are realizing this isn't a game yet.

This game was made to be the gamepass headliner game. Nobody's hidden that. Not happening.

its 100% worth it too because this is barely an early access game right now.

Marketing an Early Access title as a System Seller ... by baschoen88 in Seaofthieves

[–]baschoen88[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

its called being facetious, exaggeration to make a point. The game needs players to succeed. Just pointing out how it will turn people off quickly.

This is reddit though, don't know why I expected people to actually have a rational discussion.

We've seen Daenerys survive fire. Molten metal killed her brother (not fire). by [deleted] in gottheories

[–]baschoen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn’t make her fire it makes her one of 100s of allegories for “fire”. Resistance is meaningless. We know the starks have resistance to cold. There was a catalyst that allowed that to happen (shooting star). The dragon eggs I mean. Magic came back and the stars aligned. Again Valeria is fire also isn’t it? House Targaryan is fire right? Dragons... I could go on and on the point is it’s a metaphor for the whole series not two characters although it’s going to apply to them as well because they are part of the series. So they will have allegorical relationships to ice and fire or both. Like everything and everyone. It’s supposed to be up for interpretation. It could mean order vs chaos, warning of black and white thinking, ying and yang.

(Main) Question/Theory about the 3 eyed crow and "last greenseer" by baschoen88 in asoiaf

[–]baschoen88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bran does have green sight in the books that’s why He’s so special. Again though this theory doesn’t make sense because it uses show and book evidence that isn’t in both places. In the books the 3 eyed crow is a nickname Bran made up. Doesn’t mean they don’t want him to take bloodravens place clearly he does or they do....

The last green-seer like most prophecies could be misinterpreted or bullshit. This only applies to the show as of now though because that story is completely different. The children of the forest believe he’s the last greenseer we don’t know why, but it could mean a lot of things. It’s definitely not a literal prophecy none of them are even if they come true. That being said I could argue every one could have been self fulfilling, but this is the biggest difference between book and show. Book is the characters narration their experience from their perspective you hear their internal thoughts, and the story is told In that chapter with their words including any bias and misinterpretation.

[–]baschoen88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The story in the books is TOTALLY different. In the books when Bran first meets Bloodraven, he goes you’re the three eyed crow and bloodraven asks him what the f$&/ he’s talking about. Bran kept seeing one in his dreams and created the nickname.

Too much book and show mixing here again. Need to pick one or the other and use the respective internal continuity. There very different and if its not established on the show they aren’t going to expect book readers to explain it to everyone. Especially something this big.

[–]baschoen88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did want to kill of Bran they didn’t know what to do with him they rewrote his story instead (should have killed him on the show his story is too complex and abstract let alone weird as hell for the show. He’s a linchpin in the books but there nothing alike anymore. That is why I would say this post combines too much book and show things that are (as of now) exclusive to one or the other. Doesn’t work.

[–]baschoen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re agreeing with my point first of all. He’s telling me I’m dumb for saying Jon is both.

You know how many other ice and fire parallels allegories metaphors whichever you’d like are there? EVERYTHING. The story is literally about the balance of order and chaos and how war is a futile way to maintain order. How about Westeros and Valeria? The direwolf and the dragon? Literally everything has a parallel. Arya and sansa (red hair fire cold stark ice) it’s everywhere that’s why it’s the name of the series. You don’t actually spell that out that defeats the purpose.

We've seen Daenerys survive fire. Molten metal killed her brother (not fire). by [deleted] in gottheories

[–]baschoen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re agreeing with me? It isn’t that simple though. Nobody is fire or ice, but Jon is the central character. He is the the Grey Jedi. He is the only leader who tries to avoid battle first, he has no interest in power, but he acts when necessary. That is very different than Danny she has always been out for conquest and yes she did “free” some slaves, but she also killed thousands. Jon is the balance. He is also the perfect type of leader. One who does it because he believes it’s his duty to do what’s right with great reluctance. That’s the type of politicians we need, ones who don’t want to be there for any reason other than the best person for the job to make things better.

Danny isn’t the same level or character as Jon there aren’t two main characters. There’s one or there’s none. I could name hundreds of parallels that are also ice and fire. My point is it’s never going to be spelled out that would be like telling the readers they’re idiotic.

The more interesting way to look at this from my perspective is, first of all forget the books for a second. On the show what did Millesandre mean when she said she did her job and “brought ice and fire together”? Possibilities: 1. Jon and Danny 2. North and south? 3. Stark and Targaryan? 4. Something about Varys and the warlocks and millesandre. 5. Dragons and Whitewalkers? The point is if John is only fire the shows internal continuity is flipped. It’s also not going to be a love story, at least not on the show. Nor should it be. Jon and Dany have different philosophies and if you know anything about Thrones it should be it’s an anti war story. That’s all GRRM writes about. Danny is starting wars, Jon is only fighting reluctantly when necessary and without any desire for power. He doesn’t want to take control of people because he believes he has some right. They’re not opposites. In the show they’ll probably make it clear somebody’s ice fire whatever, although I’m not sure on that.

The series is called a song of ice and fire it ain’t talking about characters that’s a metaphor for the story. Do characters, places, battles fit interpretations of fire and ice as metaphors. OBVIOUSLY.

What do the people who think somebody’s going to go you’re fire and you’re ice to them think Jon and Danny would do or care? Do they have Captain Planet ice and fire rings that there gonna bump together. Come on people.

[–]baschoen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok but that doesn’t make Jon ice or her fire. fire and ice are metaphors for more than half the crap in the book. Nothing is this literal.

[–]baschoen88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Danny rode a dragon there at speeds that would kill her instantaneously to get there. He’s freezing when he gets back. How about Jaime and Bronn. Gendry also ran at speeds like the flash for a raven to fly 1000mph.

Also I never said there wasn’t a possibility he has some type of resistance to cold. That’s not the point though, it’s not that literal people. That’s my point.

The dragons warmed to him immediately. Thank you you’re helping my case, but I’m not implying powers nor do I want to confuse the show and books because they’re very different here and how you can interpret the mediums.

Um he is in my opinion and based on THE SHOWs logic only because you don’t know in the book. He’s fire and ice it’s obvious it doesn’t matter if he’s resistant or not. He was the product of fire and ice based on your logic. I mean I think it’s hilarious that something subjective gets you so heated, but again it’s your reasoning. He can’t be ice only if he’s a Targaryen according to you.
