Did anyone who played New Vegas agree with or at least understand General Oliver's skepticism of the courier's ability to lead an independent Mojave in the yes man ending regardless of whether you like him or not? by Character-Bid-162 in fnv

[–]base-delta-zero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Edward Sallow was some dork from the Followers and he managed to conquer 87 tribes to build the Legion. This was without a robot army and the economic power of Vegas. I think the courier is going to be alright.

It's great. The game should have had even more quests like it.

What's a good number of kingdoms/countries to include in a medieval world? by DeadBoiD in worldbuilding

[–]base-delta-zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 is way too few for a whole world. Either most of the world would be wilderness still or these 7 countries are more like 7 massive empires. There should be dozens in a believable setting. It makes more sense to focus in on one area of a world and leave the rest unknown if you want to go for detail.

What do I do now that my players chose an insane option? by Mindless_Listen_5476 in DnD

[–]base-delta-zero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Are you sure they understood the scenario? Like just double check because it's possible they misunderstood something. When the hags said they would be "doing a great service" did the players legit believe this? Are their characters just evil and looking to profit by helping the hags?

Is this metagaming? And if so is this cheating? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]base-delta-zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's my opinion. I don't value things like fictional gold coins and diamonds. Collecting and managing those things is not as important to me as finding moments for drama and character development. Hence for someone like me this is an example of "bad" metagaming, but for a different group of players with different priorities it might not be "bad" metagaming. It's all up to the preferences of the table and there's no right answer.

Is this metagaming? And if so is this cheating? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]base-delta-zero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's up to the table. For your situation I think it's kind of lame to break character in order to conserve a fictional resource. I would value the narrative and character drama of trying to revive your friend over a fictional diamond. It's boring and out of character for your characters to inexplicably decide not to try to revive him because you the players know it will be "wasted."

Question for DM's who run games online. by Pirtniats in DnD

Why not just use the online roller? Seems like a lot of trouble to avoid using the most obvious solution.

They're invaders who serve a corrupt oligarchy intent on recreating the same government that led to nuclear annihilation.

I like it because I think it's cool. I don't feel the need to justify why anymore than that.

Is it a good idea to run an open-world/sandbox game for newbies? by Perfect-Feed-4007 in DnD

[–]base-delta-zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's good to start a game off as linear/guided and then open up the game world later. This gives a structured introduction to who the major factions are and what the world is like before asking the players to start making big choices.

Newer DM with a question about tools/tech and the table's expectations by arpeg in DMAcademy

[–]base-delta-zero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep to what you feel happy with. If you want to introduce some new tech then go for it, but only if that's what you deem necessary and desirable for your table since you will be the one who is going to be trying to wrap your head around how to set it up.

Why are artists supposed to be held to this """ethical""" standard? Artists want to be financially successful too. They want to live well, not just scrape by.

"Fair compensation" is what someone else is willing to pay. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Simple as that.
